Hello all,
I finally got another of my Mexican Pinguicula to flower (the first being the rather common 'Aphrodite', of which I don't have a pic, unfortunately), so I decided to share. I received this plant as P. moranensis x ehlersiae (possibly 'Weser', but not likely), so I want to know if you...
I bought a new Pinguicula today from a local nursey in Berkeley. It's my third Mexican ping. Hopefully I don't kill this one....
Pinguicula moctezumae
Here's where it was being grown before I purchased it:
On a related note, does anyone know what the leaves they make during dormancy look...
I got this ping from a trade a while back and while they arent my thing i was like wth. It has been steadily growing in the recesses of my terrarium for a while now until one day i finally noticed it bc it was like 10x it's original size and looks to be making a second growth point. It was...
I was at a local garden center today and brought home a new ping, which has inspired me to see if I can put a name on my other pings, so there are my mystery pings:
1) The one I got today.
2) This one has been turning rosy.
3) My first ping!
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

My Pirouette is dividing - there's two crowns. Am I supposed to separate the two? How and when do I do that?
It's been at least a month since there were two crowns. Also, apart from numbers, food and team work, I've never divided anything before!
I've always loved pings and have a decent little collection. I can't wait until Spring when I have multiple plants blooming at the same time so I can make some hybrids. Really want to cross my 2 laueana clones, cyclosecta x sumidero, colimensis x laueana, cyclosecta x colimensis, etc. I also...
Hello everyone, I thought I would share with you some pics of my ping hybrids I initially posted on OCPS.
First, P. laueana X sumidero I.

Friend of mine gave me two types of pings to play with last fall. So far they've done well with the exception of repeated grackle attacks which almost wiped out the second type.
One type, moranensis, is blooming. Hopefully the others will be gearing up too. Don't know if any pollination...
It turns out their isn't enough space for in my college dorm place, so I need to get rid of it ASAP
It supposedly flowers a green-blue ocean spray, and its currently mounted.
I'll get a picture up when I can.
If anyone would like to trade a ping cutting, that can be mailed, for it that would...
Is anyone's colimensis still dormant? I got mine while it was dormant and made the mistake of planting it in a normal ping mix, where it sat motionless for about a month. Then I planted it in pure perlite and it still did nothing. It's got a couple of very small glandular leaves that are almost...
Considering trying to add some dolomite/limestone to my Mexican ping media when I do a re-pot. Was wondering if anyone has tried this particular brand? I picked some up at HD for about $5 so it wouldn't be a huge waste if I can't use it...says it is "derived from dolomite lime" and the...
I grew Mexican pings several years ago when I was in high school. Back then I grew my pings in a 2:1 mix of perlite and peat because it was the best mix I could make out of what was available at home depot. I just moved into my own place and I was thinking about growing some pings again.
I've...

my project ping rock is kind of coming along (too many pots, decided to put them all on a rock to save room)... moss needs to grow everywhere so the loose sand and peat doesnt fall off, but otherwise i guess everything is doing alright. wanted to share some pics...
I'm looking into getting Mexican pings to be kept on windowsill. I have a nice little south western window that gets 3-4 hours of direct sunlight in the summer and more in the winter. I know P. 'piroutte' and P. moranensis will be good species to keep in that way. I also have my eye on P...
Okay everyone, I found this awesome, Victorian-looking, glazed ceramic washbasin in my grandparent's basement. It's mine now. I have been mulling over what to do with it for a few months now and i have finally decided. I want to dedicate it to some tropical pings. I need some advice though...
Got this ping from a guy I know at a herp expo. He gave me a container with two types of pings last fall. Unfortunately he did not remember the name of either one though he did know that they both were species. Well this one surprised me by blooming off and on all winter though it did have...
