Hello everyone. This is my first try at nep seeds. I just got back from a weekend in Florida and started looking around my shelf. At first glance I thought they were germinating, but a closer look reveals it is indeed a fungus of some sort. Sorry for the blurry pic, I'm just showing the...
Last summer I decided to build a floating island for some plants out of a large net pot and some empty drink containers with the idea that I would put it in the lake behind my house.
Some info:
-The lake water TDS tests at around 170-180 PPM.
-Media is around 60/40 to 70/30 perlite/sphagnum...

Hi all,
I just moved to Florida not long ago and was looking online to see if there were any carnivorous plant societies. It appears as if there were two at some point, but neither are active. Does anyone know if they no longer exist, or are just not maintaining websites anymore?
I finally...

This past summer, I obtained a D. filiformis "Florida Giant," the real thing this time for those who know the story of my other D. filiformis unknowns. Just before the plant went into dormancy, I cut the last good leaf it had to try and propagate more and thought I would share the result, pics...
Things are looking fine, so I thought I would show off my propagation and labelling efforts...
U. pubescens "Serra Caraca", finally getting established.
U. rostrata, from some location or another. Still establishing from the CZ.
My FAVORITE! U. blanchetii. It is like a fine grass, so...

I mainly grow native plants, from Florida and Georgia, and carnivores.
If anyone is interested in native plants and their ecosystems of Florida, check out Priceless Florida, printed by the Pineapple Press. The book really gave me a new perspective on the really unique and dynamic ecosystems of...
I'm finding this question surprisingly difficult to Google answers for. If regular old insect screen were shade cloth, what would be its shade value? I know someone in Florida with one of those ubiquitous screened porches (even the "roof" is screen) and I'm wondering how a nepenthes would do in...
Hello!
Almost all of my plants are doing quite well at this point, so I figured I would take some pics. The coin is for size comparison. It is a Canadian quarter, which is the same size as an American quarter.
My dear falconeri, doing very well, and becoming quite large with regular feeding...
Hey everyone!
I'm Jo. I live in central Florida and up until a few days ago, I never thought I'd possibly love a plant as much as I love my first carnivorous friend. (Don't get me wrong--I love all my plants--but this one is really something special!) I "adopted" a beautiful nepenthes alata...
Dear Terraforums,
This is a bit of a strange request, but I have found myself in need of some rather "beginner" plants, and I hoped that some of the growers here might be able to help. I don't want any established plants, but rather leaves or unestablished cuttings. What I have in mind...
I'm sure plenty of hobbyists have asked this question before but I wanted to know for sure before purchasing an AC unit. So I live in St Petersburg FL and day temps are 80s 90's most of the year. winter temps are random; some days going as low as 50 "rarely" & occasionally you get the below...
Recent events have led me to believe that the original plant labeled D. filiformis 'Florida Giant' that I received from a local nursery a few years ago was mislabeled by that nursery. The plants you received from me are all from seed of that original plant and its offspring as I have never had...
