The tags on these 4 " short pots say that the seeds for these two Boswellia serrata plants were sown back on February 21, 2007.
This plant has a couple of braches poking up from beneath the soil's surface and another starting out atop of this plant's caudal-like base.
The other plant also...
Here's the result so far of my recent attempt at propagating N. campanulata by culturing the shoot tips in vitro. I used small basal shoots as explant source and referred to these links for disinfection methods:

I felt the need to move one of more recent neps to a different spot and one of my older neps as well. I decided to give the wriggleiana more shade and the L X H veitchii more light. My little grow chamber is starting to show more green in it. :)
Also I am pleased to report that the average...
I'm moving this Saturday from Atlanta, Georgia to Ithaca, New York for grad school. If I have the time, I would like to set up a mini-bog planter a week or two after the move (either on an apartment balcony, or at the Cornell horticulture complex, where I will be working). I haven't set up a bog...
I currently grow my plants under T5 HO around 14" away and they all have great color, vigor, etc.. I'm about to get into tissue culture and need to get another grow light since I don't have any more room on my shelves. My question is, for tissue culture, does the intensity of the light matter as...
I have spent the last few days around Charleston, SC, and thought before my arrival that carnivorous plants would be hard to find. After some Internet digging and calls to the exceedingly helpful folks at the Francis Marion National Forest ranger's station, I located three distinct populations...
This is my first post, but also do not know how to add a picture.:-D
I want to put the butterworts are collected, whether in Mexico or temperate, because I found that I really love this species, they are really very feminine.
But it gets hot, I put them all on aquaculture in the fish tank, so...
I started doing TC about 2 years ago from seeds I got on ebay. Now I'm overrun with babyfood jars of nepenthes and sundews
each jar has many plants at least 20 for the nepenthes and probably 50+ sundews. N. "King Tiger" x mirabilis "Kuraburi" and Drosera spatulata. They are all small but could...
Yes, indeed, the one with the uncreative name has returned, with yet more questions. (I have sooooo many questions. :p)
Okay, I'm planning on ordering a Heliamphora minor. I do know that these plants are more difficult that plants like Venus flytraps or Drosera capensis. I have a setup waiting...
I've been increasingly interested in aquatic micro fauna lately, especially as the pondarium began to flourish with micro life last summer. Dang, I need a microscope!
In the terrarium I started a giant clam shrimp culture in a deli cup. I have the little babies swimming around, plus a couple...
This happens with almost all my Drosera except my pygmies.
Scenario 1:
I put any Drosera in a tray of distilled water... This has been done with multiple container colors, sizes, ect. I fill it up to almost the top of the container and I either keep it at that level, usually over an inch below...
Tentatively named FTS Tall Giant, this is a monster of a flytrap with large traps, long teeth (cilia) and extremely long leaves. Very dangerous looking!
This is originally a seedling from Bob Ziemer's seed harvest that I got in 2009 and put in tissue culture, hence the BZ40 (it was the 40th...
Recently, I decided to try an experiment: I wanted to “dress up” the bench surfaces between the pots with live Sphagnum. I’ve seen photos from other people’s greenhouses where they’ve built a living Sphagnum culture on the bench tops in this manner, and the idea appealed to me, so….
Six weeks...
I have a culture of sphagnum moss and it is about to fill up the container its in so I am planning on trimming it down and taking more cultures of it. I noticed a while back there were tiny and I mine tiny black dots moving around. I believe them to be Oribatid mites. They are tiny black round...
Hello,
you are bidding on a one year old seedgrown plant of the rare and magnificent Lilium catesbaei from Baldwin County, AL. This "Pine Lily" can be found growing with Sarracenia. Your plant will have multiple little bulbs and roots. It is not yet greenhouse hardened, but I have found that...
One ugly to start that field of uglies y'all have been dreaming of. It is seed grown, not a clone.
You will receive one ugly of my choice shoved in a 50ml tube with a layer of jello. Of course, you will get the ugliest one.
$6.50 shipping. And an additional $20 Jencare fee for Bigbella...
Opening bid $10.
Up for bid is a flowering-sized specimen of S. leucophylla 'Tarnok'.
"So, what?" you say. Thanks to the miracle of tissue culture, there are maybe 1 million clones of this thing floating around. No, thanks.
This particular specimen, however, is from a division of the original...
I have a calendula, a daisy-esque annual, that decided to do things it's own way. I just GOTTA get a picture some time. Normally with any rayed flower it blooms, and then the false petals fall off and the little myriad flowers in the center gradually become seeds. Not this one. This plant starts...
