Well, I think the D. scorpioides will actually survive a winter outside in San Diego and making gemmae :-D
(and I guess there's other Drosera in there but I don't know which ones :p)
How are everybody else's pygmies doing?
I need to know if I can let them flower continously without slowing their growth or if I should cut the flowers like VFT. This is my first time with pygmies and I'm not quite sure. Thanks for your responses, Jack
Here's some random stuff that caught my eye this morning. (and I'll keep updating with pics throughout the month when possible as usual)

Hey all - check this out! I took a peek into my grow rack this morning to find that some D. nitidula x pulchella I ordered about two months ago were actually growing in Utricularia! I figured the leafy green stuff was a grass or moss since all of the pygmies I got from this place came growing in...
Hi there! I took pictures of pygmies today as I moved them inside for the winter. They took night temps around 5C well, but now the forecast says frosts, which would be too much for them to cope with. I hope you like them!:-)

I brought in all my plants off the patio last week and put the two pygmy dew pots into a potted terrarium and now they've gone dormant. Outside they had feeding leaves and tons of flowers but now they're just stumps with white fur so I guess they went dormant??
Do I need to water them at all or...

Did a search, and didn't find anything. I grow my pygmies inside under lights. They do fantastic, but do not get a dormancy, nor produce gemmae.
I'm wondering about putting them outside. Our summers are hot, and dry. Usually 90-100F, with very low humidity. It's a desert climate. So I...
As usual, I went to go water my neps and prune away the dead leaves and such, and decided to dig up the bromeliad I had put in the yard because it smelled (water tank + dying flowers = GROSS) while it was making pups. Well, I did manage to get two pups off of it - one big and one that was...

Got back from work this morning and found this little nice surprise! One of the rare 4-petaled Drosera :D (unless pygmies are the exception.. I'm unsure) Would any of you know if they self-pollinate?
Enjoy!
I have gemae on the way in the mail.
So I want to give it the best start I can.
A big glazed ceramic pot like 6 to 8 inches tall
is what I'm going to use.
However I can't find perilite or silica sand.
Is there something that I can buy that is silica sand or some other substrate ?
Could I crush...

Stupid aphids somehow got to my drosera shelf. Anyone ever been in this situation, and if so what insecticide did you use to get rid of them? Is there anything that will work on aphids (the Neem isn't working for me) but won't also kill the dews? Right now it's only the capensis that are...

Thanks to many of you, my obsessive perfectionism has been sated. I have finally been able to get an estimate as to how my grow-rack and situation will look like. However, I know Highland/Intermediate Nepenthes should do alright in this type...
