My name is Devon and I'm a botanical enthusiast living in Montana. I'm fairly new to carnivorous plants. I've tried growing the before with little success, but now I've really committed myself to giving them everything they need and they seem to be responding well. I'm currently in possession...
I don't know who here has ever tried it but over a month ago I gave several different Nepenthes plants a single watering of straight black coffee I brewed in my regular coffee maker. The coffee "treatment" made a huge difference on every species I tried it on (rafflesiana, mirabilis var...
Hi all, this is my first post ever on a forum :)
So i'm a student from Belgium and I keep some plants in our house for several years.

I've had this little guy for a long time. It never grew well, and it never produced any good looking pitchers... until the coffee came :)
A friend turned me on to the coffee fert thing a few months back, and this little Nep started to grow like crazy.
Only problem is, I have no idea what it...
There seems to be lots of posts about using coffee as a fertiliser for Nepenthes, but not many on Cephalotus... anyone tried it and what was the results?
Photos of my grow shelf so far---a special thanks the generous TF members who are helping me get going!
Plants are under a 4 x 2ft T5 setup, with ultrasonic humidifier and small fan for humidity and circulation. Supplementary LEDs on the way.

Coffee on seedlings/seeds may invoke prepubescent hungry seedlings. All new seedlings have pitchers emerging before the dicotyledons emerge. One sprouts has a pitcher forming upside down....
At least there are novel observations to be made
Hello TF,
I'm pursuing a new cheap project! Recently, I was assigned a project in school where we have 7 weeks to pursue anything we want, and then we give a presentation on the process and what we have learned by the end. It's an awesome opportunity, and I have decided to move up my summer...
anyone know if the frappe thing will work on the sundews like the nepenthes? I don't have the space to setup test atm. my logic says maybe so if they are in cultivation without access to constant prey.
Hello all,
Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to all who contribute to this forum, you have really inspired me and encouraged me in this fascinating hobby. I know I only post when I have a problem and true to form here I go!

This weekend I went up to Weaverville and Asheville, NC to help my Dad and some of his friends work on restoring part of a camp that he and his friends went to as kids. The camp has been closed for years and many of the old cabins are in disrepair but the most recent owner has put a ton of money...
I mainly grow native plants, from Florida and Georgia, and carnivores.
If anyone is interested in native plants and their ecosystems of Florida, check out Priceless Florida, printed by the Pineapple Press. The book really gave me a new perspective on the really unique and dynamic ecosystems of...
I just picked up a N. bongso var. Robusta today. After I paid, I realized the two newest leaves were smaller than the last ones...
Why is this? How can it be fixed? I feel like coffee may help, so in another week when my plants are due for their next treatment I will brew up extra for this...
Hi there,
I went to the coffee roasters up the street today to get a new supply of Ethopian Harrar coffee and asked if I might get some green beans. This time they gave me a bunch, at least a couple ounces. Said to be Arabica, normally shade grown and at high elevations. Normally grown at 3...
Hi There,
Just up the street from me, a half mile or so is a place called What's Brewing. They moved in perhaps a decade ago and have been in operation ever since. I like to get coffee from them as it was usually roasted that day or within the last two to three. Hearing that it is possible...
