oye - as if aphids wasn't enough to make things hard - i got a couple other problems now.
For one thing, a green slimy mold is growing - now i read about it, and it is an algae that grows in the moist soil conditions, but it bothers me none the less. What i have read is that you can scrape it...
I am having a bit of a problem with my Dente. It seems to have stopped new growth production since a few weeks ago. A little after the beginning of June (around the same time some of my other plants were attacked by aphids), the plant ceased growing new traps/leaves. The plant was NOT attacked...
Hey everyone... this will be my first post here on these forums. After a few years hiatus from growing, i decided i would try to pick things back up again.
I'v had these traps for about a month now... ordered them online, and go them in the standard way: roots wrapped in a moist paper towel, and...
Alright so the aphids are back and they’re not alone. The ants and aphids are taking full advantage of their symbiotic relationship on my VFTs. I have tried spraying them off, drowning them; I even moved the fortress away from the ant trial it was neighboring, but no luck! New traps are now...
I've got what looks like aphid damage but I see no aphids. I battled with aphids two years ago and they were rather large and could not be missed. What I am seeing is small white specks, almost dustlike, over most of the damaged leaves. I can't tell whether this "dust" is moving or I'm staring...
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I've looked through about 20 pages of the forum and haven't found an answer yet.
It is spring and my pitcher plan container bogs are coming out of dormancy quite nicely, with one disturbing exception - my s. leucophylla. For some reason...
I went out to the backyard this morning and noticed that aphids have rudely settled in, mainly on the rose bushes (without paying rent either!). They are hanging out on the newly formed rose buds, sucking and drinking to their health.
There are a couple small rose bushes near my growing area...
Hey all,
I have a friend who just recently got a couple of sundews (D. Spatulata). But when he brought them home, it turned out they have aphids on them. He turned to me and I had the slightest clue on how to get rid of them. Now I'm turning to you guys for help.
What is the best way to...
Another weekend around repotting:
Saturday:
Drosera capensis alba, separated them and put them on submersion (again). Aphids were back this month. Also didn't have enough pots for them :jester: 11 plants now.
What is safe to spray on African Violets to get rid of aphids? I use orthene or sevin or malathian(sp) on my Cps, would any of these work for African Violets?
I haven't been a very good plant grower and have mostly neglected my plants this winter, besides bringing them in for the winter. I noticed today that I have aphids on about half of them. I pulled off all the ones I saw, but I don't have enough water to flood all my plants. What do you guys...
ok, i need some help and quick. this is the first time ive grown sarr's from seed and ive come against my worst nightmare, i was just inspecting my pot of Sarracenia flava and noticed it was infested with aphids! it seems to be cotained to the flava but their starting to spread to the purpurea...
what could i use to get rid of aphids on sundew, i thought of getting some lady bugs, but then i think to my self will they do the job of eating or will they get eatin them selves. not sure what other things i can do to my cp as most sprays reek havoc on them. maybe some of you more seasoned...
I just found aphids all over my woolly sundews. I don't even know how they got in my terrarium. They seem to be attracted to Ordensis and Falconeri's mostly. I need help in getting reid of them. I have a classic terrarium set up, So what a good and safe way to kill off all the aphid with out...
what do you guys make of this? they are in 90% humidity, 70+ degrees, and excellent light (all my other plants are thriving, including an itty bitty cape seedling).
its driving me crazy, and im starting to worry that my aliciea's flower wont open because its sick or something.
i thought it...
I subscribe to axiom that VFT's (and AmericanCP's with pitchers) should go outside in the sun and fun and garner as much photosynthetic energy as they possibly can. Trouble is, the critters enjoy the plants. Whether it be the squirrels or birds or aphids, something gets into them and chews them...
Today I found 6 or so aphids on my S. rubra Northern variety, so I quickly smushed them. My question is, is it okay to use Orthro on cp?
BTW, My S.flava has decided to send up a flower stalk and I would like to know if I should cut it or not?
Thanks,
dewy
