    Venus flytrap first-aid out-the-box

well, my flytraps came in quite suddenly, they appear fairly healthy, mature, and happy, even though they were shipped upside-down in a box full of packaging peanuts XD. they had the good sense to tape around the base with masking tape to keep the dirt/rhizome from falling out at least. So...

    Quarantine . . .

I received a number of plants late last year from a dealer (and no one on this forum -- really) and had the idle notion of simply isolating them from the other plants for a short time. Little did I realize then, but many of the items in the shipment were infested with aphids and one with aphids...

Bayer Advance, 3 in 1 Disease & Mite Control

Has anyone used this product for Neps and mite control? I've had very good luck with Bayer Advance Dual Action Rose & Flower Insect Killer for aphids and such in the past, but it doesn't seem to cover mites. Thanks! Nathan

    Ortho systematic questions

I've noticed I have been getting pretty atrocious germination as of late, and starting having a good hard look at my pots to see why. I discovered some tiny black burrowing insects with clear wings. I suspect these :censor: are eating the roots of my seedlings (also had a number of seedlings...

    Spring fever

Well, spring is here and my VFT are really beginning to grow. I have been busy with school lately and have not had much time for TF. Now that I am almost finished, I had the time to take some pics of my vft. Enjoy! Bigmouth VFT My typical vft's have been infected with some aphids and is...

General questions about pests (aphids, mealy bugs, etc)

Hello gang - I have yet to get a N. but have been reading a lot about them. My question is mainly about pests. Basic question, but I am paranoid due to all of the threads about plants being ruined by all of the pests out there (search function started the nightmare), so now when I am looking...

    Aphids!!!

So after an uneventful year last year, I didn't know how scary this could be. I wandered outside yesterday to take a peek at my minibogs and noticed that my Alata seems to have slowed down in growth. I looked closer and the newer leaves were CRAWLING with tiny green creatures:0o: . I really...

    Aphids?

I think these pictures spell Aphids. Am I correct? I found the white specks, molted skin is my guess, on 2 D.spatulata. Both are under water already, but after taking pictures I believe I can see them (circled). ...and a close up :censor: How long should they remain submerged? I've read...

    Aphids eek?

Hey everyone sad news today. I noticed Aphids are on most of my Drosera... I've successfully kept them at bay for today by hand but whats the best way to approach ridding my plants of these tiny demons? I know its suggested to flood the plants but I'm really looking for any other approach that...

    Aphids on P. moranensis

So as the title suggests my Ping has aphids. My mom got it for me at a non carnivorous nursery so obviously they fail severely at caring for them. Anyway, what should i do to get rid of them? My ping has a flower getting sent up, luckily with no aphids on the stem. I've manually removed some of...

    sick ventricrosa

My ventricosa was growing well, but the last two leaves are very small and gnarly looking. Also the last pitcher is very small. I'm thinking aphids or a fungus of somekind. Should I spray it with insecticide/fungicide? I have pics, but I don't know how to put them on the post, and they're...

    Eaten Growth Points...

Just a few moments ago I went to check out my mini-bog and after seeing a few deformed pitchers coming from my S. catesbaei I decided I better have a closer look. The other day we had been shucking corn on the front porch near my mini-bog and just plucked out the corn worms that were nibbling...

    Weird growth; sorta extreme clumping

My VFTs seem to have clumped like crazy. In the beginning of summer, they were normal VFTs, but then made lots of offshoots, and some strange deformed traps. Here's the bigger one, which was only one plant when it came out of dormancy. And the smaller one, which came as an offshoot from...

    Little black pest

My Sundews are being attacked by some type of pest that I'm having a hard time controlling. I'm sorry if these are a duh-duh comment pest, but I havn't been able to find a good match on the description of them through my searches. They seem pretty straight forward, tiny, tip of a pencil size...

    Truncata deformed...help!!!

My new pitcher is deformed and I can't figure out why. Nothing else in my tank is doing anything weird. I use GardenSafe, I don't think it's aphids. The only thing I can think of is a freak occurance or I need to replace my flourescents.
