Most nepenthes I can just dump into my growspace and they grow on their merry way, but a couple I'm still having trouble with so I'm here soliciting advice if anyone has any. Here are my misbehaving plants with descriptions:
N.sp Doorman's top #2:
It barely has 5 leaves on it, maybe thinking...
Hi everyone!
well I seem to have a young D. anglica going into dormancy, and I wonder what can I do to help it. here's a shot I took hours ago :
it's the one in the back, with browning leaves. the media is wettish (1'' distilled water), 1:1 peat/silica sand and all is facing a east-south...
the rest of my neps under the same bulb are fine, just this belliixtruncata is doing this. im thinking its getting burnt, maybe the lights i have it under are stronger or just closer than the vendor i got it from, will it slowly acclimate to the stronger lights?
Thank you in advance...
Picked up a death cube at Lowes few weeks ago and let acclimate to my conditions. Found some new growth on the rhizome tonight and the old growth is beginning to brown so I decided it was time to repot. I dug up an old zen fountain and decided to make a make shift root cooling pot with a few...
The time has finally arrived for re-potting a slough of Dionaea -- something I now do annually, just as they emerge from dormancy; and it has certainly encouraged far more vigorous growth and increased size of my B52s and other cultivars over the years. Several of the plants are now in larger 15...
here are a few pics of my new children .
nep. Truncata Queen of Hearts X King of Spades. its putting on good growth , even after shipping damage you can see the broken, and browned top left, it was the center top just three weeks ago.
the large front right picther is all new growth .

Photos of my plants August 20th, 2009
So my wife and I finally made the move to Ashland, Oregon. Since getting settled in, I've got my new greenhouse set up! I'm very excited about that. It gives me plenty of room to expand my collection...
so i put my ventricosa and sanguinea outside my house, so i can clean my room. once i was done, there was a line of ants all the way from the first floor coming up and into the 9 pitchers i have. i can't really put the plant back inside my house now because there are ants swarming around and i...
So, just another post about the general squirrel population...i couldnt get all of my plants...bc my camera's battery died and i cant find anymore but i have one good example...plus, i am pleased to say no nepenthes lives have been taken...and i am trying my best to protect them now....
the...
A few weeks ago, I took 5 leaf pullings from all of my typical VFTs. Today, when I went to check on them and water them, I noticed little sprouts coming out of the base of the leaves. 4 of the 5 sprouted. I'm going to give the 5th one some more time, in case it's just slow. When I was taking the...
I would like to hear how folks grow this species especially temperatures. Would this species acclimate to temperatures remaining in the 70s (70-80 night:day) or would it have to have cooler nights to be healthy? What are some preferred soil mixes? I've seen some really cool photos floating...
I was reading on another site that you can let tap water sit out for around 48 hours and then it would be ok to water VFTs with, but still not as good as distilled water. Is that true? It seems a little odd to me.
Oh and another. How exactly do you acclimate VFTs to the outdoors? Wouldn't they...
I paid 40$ for a male specimen of nepenthes khasiana. It arrived with one beat up leaf but had two more and new growth emerging. I put it on my window in a plastic baggie with the corners sliced off. I was planning to cut the corners a little more each day for several weeks or so to help...
I have an N. khasiana ( spelled correct?) that I've had for about 2 months. I am trying to acclimate it to a covered south facing window for some time. It is getting good sunlight and I mist it 4 or 5 times a day. When I got it it had one small pitcher which it dropped in the first week. I...
Sarracenia minor 'okefenokeensis giant' seeds stratified: April 27th 2008
Sowed: May 27th 2008
I then today checked the seeds [they moved out of a very bright morning windowsill to a shaded window all day for about 3 days] and I had a lot of germination. They seemed a tad etiolated so I put them...
Several months agi I received a D. lanata with a couple flowers stalks. The flower stalks never developed and ultimately the plant went dormant and died.
And now I have a D. kenneali with one. Would it be wiser to just cut it off, so as to allow the plant to acclimate more easily or does it...
I've had my VFT's under fluorescents for about the last 3 weeks (since I got them).
They're doing well, but they're overdue to be put outside for the season.
I've had them on 16 hour fluorescent cycles, very close to the lights.
I assume that they'll need some acclimation before I put them...
Hi my vft is dying while i am trying to acclimate it outside. should i acclimate it inside? some of the leaves are browning and the traps are browning, when i got it i repoted it in a perltie & peat medium and i saw that is has a pretty good root system. what should i do? i willl post pictures...
I have a few questions I'd like to ask
The First question is about the first plant pictured. I'd like to know if it is normal for a sarr to grow pitchers so different in size? When I bought it it had the tiny pitchers then it put out the middle size ones and just recently it put out the tallest...
WOOT! I got even more new CPs! I hope they acclimate very soon.
Here is the Cephalotus that Andy sent me (when you said it was a small division, you weren't kidding XD):
U. dichotoma:
D. capensis 'red':
N. ventricosa 'red':
And I would show my P. primuliflora, but my camera died :P.
