In the spring i had S. purpurea, 5 VFTs typicals and a S. rubra ssp. rubra.
Since them i have added: another S. rubra ssp. rubra, S. purp. X flava, 2 green dragon VFTs, 4 typical VFTs, S. 'Judith Hindle', S. leucophylla X 'Willissi', D. fillformis, D. Binata, D. dichotoma (i think), S...
i know thats its very early to be asking this question but i got a few 1-2 year old P. vulgaris and i was wondering what age should they be to give them there dormancy .
Ok, I'm just very excited because up until now the only pings that have ever bloomed for me were P. vulgaris and P. villosa. This is my first non-temperate ping to send up a flower stalk Can't wait until she actually blooms!
Took a road trip with my Aunt today and on the way we drove up a long, winding, dirt trail that led up a mountain side. I spotted some skunk cabbage and noticed a creek oozing down towards the coast. So we did some exploring and found D. rotundifolia and P. vulgaris. The pics aren't the best...
Ok, so I definately want a bog that can get pretty cold and maybe even just stay where it's put over the winter. Thanks to everyone's help I have a list of plants that will hopefully work out.
So, does anyone have any cuttings/divisions/seeds to trade of:
Drosera filiformis spp. filiformis...
I'm in a possition now to handle adding my very first ping to my CP collection. However, I don't know what type to get. I would prefer a plant without a dormancey, or one that has a winter, rather then summber dormancy if it does have one. I also really like the tightly rossetted ones that...
Hello folks!
I'm not a big ping collector (mostly neps) so I'm looking to you folks for any advice you might have on why my pings leaves are turning yellow and don't seem to be growing real well. most have been potted for 6 months or less in sphagnum peat and some sand. here are the ones which...
My P. vulgaris are entering their 3rd month of dormancy and have produced a large amount of gemmae. I'm wondering if it is ok to pot up the gemmae on their own or should I wait until the plants start coming out of dormancy in April?
Hey Guys,
It is starting to get cold here and I have some Pinguicula species that im not sure if they have to have dorrmancys or what kind. I seem to have miss-places my "Savage Garden" book and cant find any info on google. So please if you can just tell me one or two species or even all of...
Ok, I think that this ping is 'typical' temperate, and I right, or is an angry ping like vulgaris?

I purchased a 28" long x 16" wide x 16" deep white plastic flower trough (it has two removeable drainage plugs if I want to flush the soil later on). I want to plant sarracenia, sundews and VFTs in it. But I'm curious as to when I should plant them in the box? Is it ok to do it now or should I...
I purchased what is said to be a P. vulgaris it doesn't look like the photos I found online when I did a google search. It's leaves are soft like in the photo below now but in winter they are thicker and stouter and reminding me of a sword blade made of celery stalk! I got one in winter and...
What are some larger species of cold temperate pinguicula? I have some vulgaris and villosa, but I'm doing a smally tiny microbog type thing, and I need one, maybe two other pings that are slighty larger, just to contrast with the dews, ya know?
Thanks alot...
What are some temperate Utricularia, that can grow along side some D. rotundifolia, D. anglica, P. vulgaris, P. villosa, and If I can find any either this year, or early next spring, some cold temperate D. intermedia...
Basically, my stipulations are as follows: must be temperate, must have...
Here's a flower spike that was "accidently" severed from the plant by my cat. I decided to make the best of the situation and beg my boyfriend to photograph it..
I recieved a U. vulgaris from purplesundew in a trade (many thanks... excellent plants you sent)... I was under the impression, but not unpleasantly suprised to find out that it is aquatic... Very interesting. The traps are bigger than that of my terrestrials... I supposet hisis a charictaristic...
I've been growing Pings in my bog garden outside for quite a while but unfortunately that's my only experience with temperate pings. Now my boyfriend wants to grow one of our native Pings but he lives in an apartment so having a bog garden is not an option. My question is, can P. vulgaris grow...
I am thinking of making my half whisky barrel garden into a bog next year... Every year since I can remmeber, it was My barrel, and I chose the flowers for it, and I watered it, etc... I am thinking of fitting a pond liner into it next year... I am halfway sure of how to construct it... Poke...
