Hello. I live in Portland, Oregon. I moved up here from Los Angeles About two years ago and i notice that it is a lot easier to find rare/cp plants up here. I'm currently growing dionaeas, sarracenias, cephalotus, heliamphora, droseras, and pinguiculas. (But hundreds of other plants in and...
Hey, some questions for those seasoned Nepenthes growers out there. I recently purchased my first two plants (N. "miranda" and N. ventrata, as best as I can tell). Both fairly small plants and about 3-4 inches height. Both are a little bit yellow, but I suspect that might have come from a...
I recently went to a carnivorous plant meetup I had caught wind of and had an excellent time. Everyone was extremely friendly, fun, and informative. There were also a lot of nepenthes being given out and I grabbed a couple as well as being given a drosera and that is why I am on here. First, I...

I received a terrarium for Christmas last year and, I'm embarrassed to say, am just getting around to setting it up now. It's got an elegant design, and I've worked out how I want the inside laid out, but could use some help figuring out how to best water the plants. Other suggestions...
I couldn't help but notice a correlation between the onset of Spring and faster growth with the Nep seedlings I planted from 10/21/2012 to 01/15/2013. Oddly it seems that the smaller the propagation box used the faster the seedlings grew or another way to look at it would be the smaller the...
Hi all ... this is a question for the experts really
I know that the following is not to be used
Bottled Mineral Water and Tap Water contain far to many chemical’s and mineral’s that the plant does not like.
River Water to be avoided due to chemicals and pesticides that may run into the water...
So, I finished hammering together a solar still in my garage and took it outside for a test run in the sun. Hoping that it will distill enough water to keep my still miniscule collection of CPs alive and happy...
I fill it up with regular tap water through a small opening in the back. The inside...
Hello all! I have a question for you guys. Since I am a newb when it comes to growing carnivorous plants and this will be my first summer growing them I need help with maintaining the proper level of wetness carnivorous plants need. I know that a tray method of an inch of water at the bottom of...
So the new house I just moved into has awesome tapwater with only 20 TDS out of the tap. Perfect for all my sarracenia.. But has anyone had any luck using water with a low TDS on more sensitive drosera and such?
I just have a quick question. The adapter that I use for my ro filter just needed to sorta not work. It works technically but it's too loose so it sprays water everywhere. I need to buy a new adapter but in the meantime can I temporarily water my plants with tap water...just my super market...
My VFT's traps are turning black. I don't know what's wrong. I have it in 100% peat moss, from a huge bale of the stuff I got from Lowe's. I also have been watering it with both rain water and water from the goldfish pond we have. I've been careful not to use tap water. I just don't know what I...
I recently mentioned that my second hamata just produced a dud pitcher and the plant growth slowed way down. It turns out that the NZ sphagnum became too compacted and caused the roots to rot away. The tap root is still long and healthy looking and there is no foliage die-back so I re-potted...
I Just ordered my first Nepenthes today! Its a N. ventricosa, hopefully I can care for it well since it is supposed to be fairly easy for a Nepenthes. Well it is kind of my first Nepenthes, I have tried them twice like 6 years ago when I was in middle school (before I knew how to even care for...

Hello all, i am aproaching my 2nd year of growing carnivorus plants. I am a 13 year old boy from the sacromento area of california. I love the genus sarracenia. My favorite plants are the S. rubra complex, S. alata, and S. minors. I have succesfully grown sarracenias, cephalotus, droseas, venus...
For a while I used a 10-gallon tank with water (distilled) at the bottom and an aquarium heater for my Ampullaria and Bicalcarata. The plants were perched atop upside-down flower pots; they're quite young so this setup worked. Recently, however, I acquired a great many more adelae (which also...
I've looked through previous threads, hoping to find the answer to this, but since I didn't really find anything that satisfied my question(s), I'm posting on here for a solution.
I have a young-well, actually TWO-N. mirandax hybrids that I purchased last spring at a reptile show from a guy who...
