I know how difficult it is to ID Mexican pings without a flower -- and even with a flower, but I thought I would give this a go. I think this is a John Rizzi, but I am not sure .. can anyone confirm ?
Hi everyone! I would love to begin doing some plant trades in order to benefit my workplace and obtain a more complete and interesting collection of CPs. Because my teaching greenhouses aren't specifically specialized in CPs, there are significant holes in our collection and many genera are...
Hi guys.
Today was really rough. I lost what looks like my entire Pinguicula collection. VA got hit by an unexpected heatwave after a few weeks of cool temperatures and all of my Pings dried out and melted. To make it worse, the water jug ruptured and washed all of them out of their media...
My pings are infested with these little bugs. At first I thought they were perhaps seeds that I spilled accidentally but when they starting popping up on more and more plants it became obvious that they are not seeds :( They don't seem to be moving much unless you poke them and flip them upside...

I've always loved pings and have a decent little collection. I can't wait until Spring when I have multiple plants blooming at the same time so I can make some hybrids. Really want to cross my 2 laueana clones, cyclosecta x sumidero, colimensis x laueana, cyclosecta x colimensis, etc. I also...
If anyone is interested in trying out this stuff, i'd be open to trades for gallon bags. Looking for helis or utrics(anything but the super common ones), or uncommon pings or sundews.. or nifty Sarracenia that I don't already have.. Just make me an offer. 1 gallon bag will fit per standard 6 x 6...
I realize this is a bit of a stretch given that I have almost nothing to trace, but I I've got limited grow space and so I'm looking to part ways with some plants that take up too much space. What I really want to grow are Cephs and Heli's since my small grow area is completely climate...

I have up for trade two nep vines and three cuttings. The cuttings will be made from the "main" stem, close to the media level. I am looking for nep cuttings, HL to LL but no ultras. I am primarily interested in species that will not get too large. I will also consider dews, pings and utrics...
I decided to try a different type of media for my Mexican Pings, they were doing ok but it always seemed like they were too wet in a peat based mixture. So I experimented with a new mixture, which included lava rock, dolomite, vermiculite, perlite and turface (APS) and threw in a very miniscule...
Friend of mine gave me two types of pings to play with last fall. So far they've done well with the exception of repeated grackle attacks which almost wiped out the second type.
One type, moranensis, is blooming. Hopefully the others will be gearing up too. Don't know if any pollination...

Hey guys, what does it mean when a Ping's crown is shrinking? Is it unhappy?
It's been slowly shrinking even though I feed it one a week and it just gave me a flower, there's a second one on its way. The leaves have lots of mucilage and are carnivorous. They also have a pretty pink tint along...
I am looking for Pinguicula moranensis (or other easy "beginner" Pinguicula). This will be my first butterwort!
I have Freshwater Acclimated Red Mangroves and Albino Bristlenose Plecos to trade.
Mangroves make great houseplants or bonsai and can be kept in fish aquariums. The mangroves I...
jpappy789's grow rack - recovery mode
This is going to be my motivation to put some more work into my plants...because, well, they don't look so good right now. Probably not as bad as I'm going to make it out to be, but I've certainly seen these plants at their best and this isn't it...and I...
I grew Mexican pings several years ago when I was in high school. Back then I grew my pings in a 2:1 mix of perlite and peat because it was the best mix I could make out of what was available at home depot. I just moved into my own place and I was thinking about growing some pings again.
I've...
The apartment I just moved into has a large south-facing windowsill, measuring about 6x5 feet. I'm in a high rise, so there is no shading from trees or other vegetation. I have heard that south-facing windowsills get the most natural light (in the northern hemisphere, at least), so I was...
Hey Everyone!
It's been a very long time since I posted, or even viewed, anything on this forum. Truth be told, I put this hobby of mine on the back burner as I made the push to finish my undergrad degree, and apply for graduate school. Then I got lazy, figuring I shouldn't upgrade, or get...
