Hello fellow TFers.
A few months ago I recieved a small (2 1/2") N. bicalcarata along with a few other lowland Neps. For the first few weeks, it was growing vigorously, and during that time it pumped out two new, huge leaves. On the first day I got it I gave it a diluted coffee treatment, and...
I found the following pic, and shocked by the beautiful moss (previously I saw lots of pics showing such beautiful moss, but currently I just found this one). It's amazing! What's the secrete to grow such moss? I know high humidity, bright light are the necessary conditions. But in my case, with...
Hello fellow TF'ers
A few weeks ago I noticed a fungus gnat larvae on my ping, but I ignored it as I thought the moranensis would take care of it. I recently moved it in to my grow chamber (dews, sarr sprouts, neps) and now there's a whole bunch of them flying around in there. They haven't been...
Greetings,
I was at Lowes today, and I ran across their display advertising this (among others):

Now, I've been growing solely in pots, and I thought it would be nice to have a mini-greenhouse to at least...

Hey Y'all -
I have a P. Esseriana that I got a week or two ago. I got it bare root, and a few days after I potted it up, a fuzzy moldy-looking thing developed on the surface of the media. Mr. SDCPs tells me it's damping off fungus.
I took his advice and let the media dry up a little - I...
I reported 2 of this orchid (name unknown but according to sources i look up it maybe tiger orchid???) and after a few month i notice some white thing on top of both orchids something like a bubble or something rounded in shape. Then i reroot the plant and found what to be a fungus infection but...
I just bought a Sarracenia in a local garden center for their sale and did not notice the white webby stuff when I bought it. When I took it out of it's box I noticed a little bit of what looked like a spider web. But the next day after being in my new setup- the white webs became more...
So I've sown some D. Venusta seeds in a pot with 50/50 peat/pearlite and had them in the pot for a few weeks in the windowsill. After not seeing any results I removed the plastic bag (it's been off for about a week now) and now I'm seeing what I think is some microscopic seedling growth...
I'm toying with the idea and found a hobbyist selling some seeds of dews I'd like to try, specifically:
D. aliciae, D. capillaris, and D. pulchella.
I've also been wanting to try germinating really any CP from seed so I think this would be a good opportunity to attempt it while not burning a...
just been reading up on viruses, and its scared me a bit and put me off growing lots of them. Ive only got 2 vfts right now, and just want to make sure theyre
ok before I buy more.
But my first question is - What are the symptoms of a virus?
Now ill go over to my plants, describe some...
So after the past several posts, my garden is only taking a decline.
It's not too much water, or too little. There's always about 1" of water in all of the trays.
Contrary to the overcast day, they typically get lots and lots of bright and direct sun.
I only use distilled water, or collected...
Hi all. I've been a lurker here for a while and am taking the plunge and introduce myself.
I have been raising orchids under lights for a number of years. Mostly phals but also phrags, sophronitis and some other species (plus some minicatts). In 2007 I was having problems with fungus gnats...
On the windowsill, I currently have an infestation of crane flies around the Nepenthes. The adults are not the problem: they are harmless, don't bite, and drink nectar. What I'm worried about is the young crane flies, which are like fungus gnat larvae. They stay underground and eat plant roots...
hello. I found these little guys in my backyard today, they're definetly some kinda of cup fungus... but I lost my mushroom book. I would like to identify them. :p Massmorels, I'm counting on you! Here are some pics!
Thanks for looking!

IMHO you should read...
Hello friends, If you want to add D. capensis 'Albino' to your collection, this is the time to do it.
Here is what they look like when they germinate (my photo, my plants):
They look slightly pink because those were growing in full sun. In half sun, they are pure clear. REALLY NEAT-O!
I...
