Figured it's time to get an official photo thread going, especially since I got a new camera.
D. adelae from JCal, showing signs of life. I'm sure it was in better shape before I got it. I didn't know there was a 3rd plant in that box, and it sat there for an extra 3 days before I figured it...

Every once in awhile a hobbyist sends me a sundew that has a flower stalk. Shipped sundews almost always arrive in shock and they lose their dew. Flower stalks always stall for me and I end up having to cut them off, in disappointment. Do stalks ever survive shipping and continue growth?

1. Both are large and super gluey. At my miniature balcony, I turn around to water other plants only to be smeared with their digestive juices all over the arms. The watering can also gets coated with slime if it is used to water any other CPs near these fellows. :jester:
2. Both look VERY...
Hey Folks,
Before I decided to post and ask for help I've attempted to do lots of searching, homework, and cannot come up with an explanation for this.
About a week ago I woke up one morning and went in to check on my plants (I have my collection on a grow rack. Mainly sub-tropical Drosera...
Let me preface this by informing you that I've recently realized I have a thrip infestation of my outdoor Sarr's and VFT's (and my non-cp plants as well). Bearing that in mind, I've started Neem oil treatment on everything.
The first question: Is Neem Oil lethal to bees, butterflies, and other...

When is it safe to feed new leaves on a capensis. One of my leaves is almost completely uncurled and I have a dab of dew on the "oldest" tentacles, near the petiole (?) So when can it feed and what is this green algae looking thing growing next to my capensis?

The developing tips of the leaves have been dying off. Not sure what the issue is. Plant did well for me last summer and even all winter long. Actually bloomed for me over the winter. It is located in front of an unobstructed SE exposure sliding glass doors. Last summer I did have it...
Hi all
Built myself a medium sized terrarium about a month ago. So far it seems like the Dorsera I've got in there are loving it.
With the exception of my little D. Adelae. For some reason it has turned super red almost black on the tips of it's new growth and produces no dew :-( The humidity...
I have some extras growing in my Purple Pitcher pot. This is same pot from where I purchased, so I got a little extra i guess:-D.
I know that there is a little Sun dew coming up.
I wanted to know are those other green leaves possibly something or just some other type of crap from the moss?
Thnx
I have two mystery 'dews:
Dew 1: I have no idea
Dew 2: I know this one is probably tuberous.
Both of them sprang up in a pot I reused from another grower for Byblis and D. scorp. I didn't realize that everything would end up getting so crowded.
Thanks for the help!

Most of us are fascinated by carnivorous plants because they are, well, carnivorous. But I've often wondered what people thought of them before Darwin came along, since they are rather amazing in appearance alone.
For example, here and there in pre-nineteenth-century books, you'll find some...
I have an adult flowering D. nidiformis that I grew from seed last year. I would be interested in trading for just about anything not on my grow list.

Drosera hamiltonii Esperance, SW Australia
This is a fairly easy to grow Drosera that makes a good companion plant for Cephalotus follicularis. It can be a little finicky and produce much dew at times. Most people grow these in shallow pots where they will multiply like crazy from offshoots...
Has anyone ever tried starting Drosera regia cuttings in water? John Brittnacher says it might be possible but I haven't found much information about it on the web. Do you think it would be possible? There are a few leaves on my regia that probably got shocked during shipping and lost their dew...
