Sooo, this thread is essentially going to be where I dump the pictures I take with regards to the hobby. It'll also likely be somewhere I ask questions and give updates and such. Let's get this party started!

The D. adelae are great for taking care of the occasional fly in the house.

So are the D. capensis.

My first attempt at propagation. These are all D. capensis 'Red.'

That's it for now!

Wooooooo, I envy your setup! Very nice, well grown!! Marvelous shots, as well!

Thanks!, but: Ha! I envy yours, what with all the outdoor growing! Although, we just bought a house (woo!) with a fairly big yard (woooooo!) and I plan on building a greenhouse at some point (WOOOOOOOOO!). That should expand my hobby a little, I would think. ^.^

Looks great! I wish I could grow adelae like that..

Thank you. I don't know what it is, the adelae have done really well for me. Started with a single plant only on May fifth, 2010. I now have 21 that I can count in my indoor minibog and new ones seem to be cropping up every week. They're really cool when they develop the red coloration, probably one of my favorites.

Well, again, I envy your guys' ability to grow outdoors for sure. I may be getting a back yard soon, but there's a few inches of snow on the ground already. >.<

In other news, the numbers inside my grow rack right now:

That's adelae? Sure looks like Regia to me!

very nice. you get some nice color on those dews .

Really like taking pictures of this plant, it's just so... vibrant. Figured I'd upload this one in high resolution. Hope it works out alright.

Drosera nitidula ssp. omissa x occidentalis

EDIT: On second thought, I'll upload a smaller one, too.

Okay, here we go. If you're prepared for a 24mb high res picture, click on the one below.

Wow, I totally just made that shot the background on desktop. Thanks!

Question: That minibog has me real jealous right about now! How do you manage dormancy for those plants in your minibog that require it? Do you uproot them and leave the tropical dews and pygmies in place?

Thanks, guys!

@TheFury: The mini bog hasn't even been around a year, yet (neither have I in the hobby), but, yes, that's what I was planning on doing. In fact, I was planning on taking them out and then replanting them into pots next spring and making the minibog a dew bog; nothin' but dews in there. That's the plan, at least, and thinking about it, it's probably about the time of year I start working on that. O_O

A was considering the fridge method, since I don't yet have a garage. However, starting the 6th of next month (December), I will have a garage. Anyone think it'd be better to just wait until then to put them away for the winter? Or does the fridge method work okay for fly traps?

As for the P. moctezumae, a Mexican ping, can I just pull it out of there and repot it in a light mix (probably thinking peat : perlite 1:2, but I could mix some vermiculite in there if anyone recommends it) and start letting it dry out a little?

Thoughts and opinions?

Thanks again for all the comments and for any advice!

Some random pictures I just took.

IMG_4161.JPG

Just some Riccia fluitans from my tank that I'm keeping in my plant rack.

IMG_4158.JPG

N. 'Judith Finn' I'm guessing. Lowe's rescue.

IMG_4159.JPG

N. ventrata, another guess, another Lowe's rescue.

IMG_4162.JPG

Haven't seen it flower yet, but I'm guessing U. bisquamata

IMG_4166.JPG

A couple new N. ventrata pitchers.

IMG_4168.JPG

My grow rack.

The minibog.

My soil station.

IMG_4171.JPG

D. muscipula 'Red Dragon' with two flower stalks.

IMG_4173.JPG

D. aliciae

IMG_4176.JPG

One of the bigger D. adelae plants in the minibog.

IMG_4177.JPG

A young D. capensis 'Alba.'

IMG_4178.JPG

A young D. adelae growing from a root cutting I just barely buried under the soil in the minibog.

IMG_4179.JPG

A couple more D. adelae.

Typical.

IMG_4181.JPG

A very young D. muscipula growing under a D. adelae.

IMG_4185.JPG

Drosera enodes 'Scott River.'

IMG_4190.JPG

A brand new D. muscipula sprouting up. Must be from one of my pullings. Just up-left of center, right under the D. capensis 'Red' that's also quite young.

That's it for now!

Great pics and plants. Thanks for sharing.

I had to laugh, your setup is darn near identical to my first one. Same wrack. I enclosed 3 sides with mylar, the front with clear cellophane. Humidifier pumped in through a duct. And you know what? My plants grew better in that setup than any other I've tried! Ruined some light fixtures though haahah (rust).

Absolutely. Insanely. Ridiculous.

In the very best way possible.

My lord you blast those plants with lights!

Your adelae are so impressive I literally thought they were regia.

How do you give dormancy to the fly traps that are in there with the tropical dews?
