All purpose thread for all the cultures I have in the works. Most of my cultures are Nepenthes, but I should have a couple of everything...In the last two months, I have amassed nearly 100 cultures. I have listed the media in cases where it is not clear. Here are a few of the cute sprouts...
Ok so there has been a lot of discussion around Nepenthes seeds and how to do it and I know there are a bunch of different threads on that, but I wanted to inform you all on what I've learned as a horticulture major and my theories as to how it relates to Nepenthes and their seed germination...
Any suggestions on the best place to find D. Rotundifolia or D. Anglica seed? I was hoping to get some in stratification for the winter. I'm also open for trades if anyone has any.

Just thought I'd share this info for those who are still considering using GA3 to pre-treat sarracenia seeds, but aren't quite convinced.
I just conducted an experiment on over 500 different seeds of nearly all Sarracenia types and hybrids. I did a 24 hour soak in a 750 ppm mixture of GA3...

I picked up a few seeds of D. cistiflora "Red Flower" last weekend. How exactly do I get these to germinate. I heard about heat stratification, but can't find any info on it.
I was flipping through "the savage garden" and peter had mentioned on numerous occasions that light frost was beneficial to germination. My question to you guys was, has anybody experimented on putting stratifing seeds in the freezer for a couple hours during the strat period. I wasn't sure...
I will soon be getting Darlingtonia Californica seeds in a trade and I want to make sure I do everything right. I know some people have been annoyed by how much I ask about this on the chatbox so I have just decided to start a thread. So here goes
What kind of media should I use? Will long...
I have a large-ish pot of about 30 D. admirabilis seedlings that have germinated. The pot is loosely covered with a bag to preserve humidity and is in my south-facing window. Now that the seedlings have germinated, can I de-bag the pot? Would they be happier outside in the full sun? How...
i started my sarr seeds a while ago and put them in the garage to stratify. it was between 40 and 50 degrees for just over two weeks. then we got the weather in the 80's for just over a week, but it wasn't that warm in the garage. i put them in my fridge at school to continue the strat. my...

I just got my seeds from rareexoticseeds.com in the mail (P. Vulgaris, D. Rotundifolia, and D. Anglica) and put them in their stratification buckets.
Here are some pictures of them. The containers are 190oz. and the media is 1 peat : 1 sand.
I put sphagnum moss on top, and it is moist, but...
Hey All,
Here is my first attempt at growing sarrs from seeds. I've been doing well with purchasing/trading seedlings and growing them into big time adults that I thought I'd give seed a try. Nothing as impressive as Fred P or Brokken's production, but I was inspired enough to give it a go...
As mentioned in my post in the sundew section I am doing some research involving Sarracenia. My partner and I are going to be using Oryzalin (Surflan), Colchicine, and cobalt-60 radiation to try and induce mutations in ten species of Sarracenia. We will be using S. alabamensis ssp. wherryi, S...
