I have acquired several different types of Drosera seed, mostly through the kind offerings of others on the list, but am wondering which types if any require stratification and for how long. I planted some seed of D. binata and it is really taking off. By the way how big should they get before...
I got some seeds unexpectedly and have had a heck of atime finding out how to start them, the only thread on the species didn't seem to include the basic info...
I was going to try 50-50 peat-silica sand and otherwise follow Tamlin's article, would that be alright??
Someone told me that they may...
Hi, I just grabbed some maple seeds from a nearby tree and I was wondering if they needed a cold period before they would germinate. If they don't need stratification then do you think that I could sow some seeds now and grow them on a windowsill or under a plant light over the winter? I'm not...
how should i sow my dionaea seeds? everyone and everywhere i go they tell me something different. some people say "you need to do a cold stratification" others say "no you don't". i read somewhere you could use GA to help germination and eliminate cold stratification but others told me it isn't...
I was given some sarr seeds, and some of them had finally sprouted this spring after their required stratification. I lost many of them(all my alata and flava rugellis). My lueco's and some of my gulfensis's made it and had three or so leaves each. And then all of a sudden they started...
hey, i'd like to know if gibberellic acid is any good with vft seeds, how much of it should i use and how long do i leave the seeds in it? i read about cold stratification and don't think i want to go through with it so i bought the gib. acid.
thanks everyone
I bought "The Savage Garden" and have been reading it, and it's a really great book! I read the section about propagating sundews, and am a little unsure of how to do it. It says that you don't have to cover them with soil. And they do well when they have a couple of weeks of cool, damp weather...

Ok, I'm still a byblis newbie in fact I've only grown liniflora but will try gigantea as soon as I get my seeds....
still when I hadn't even grown this plant yet I worried about growing it from seed and such so I made a short article. Please don't make fun of it. its basically based on personal...
Ive read that Dionaea seeds need stratification but ive also read they can be sown immediately.
Which one is it?
And if they dont need stratification, does it help it even though it's not needed?

Today I while I was observing and pampering my plants in my terrarium I discovered a stalk with a light green bulb of top of it coming out from the center of my only Sarraccenia, which I instantly realised it to be a flower stalk. ()
I, in my excitement, was trying to stop msyself from curiously...
Questions, questions, questions. Basically, all I've been able to find out about this plant is it is a Western Australian Tuberous Drosera. If anybody grows this species, I would like to have some of your valuable growing experience. I have obtained seed of this species. I need to know.

Hi,
I have sown some Drosera capillaris seeds from Brazil, and after 3 months, nothing sprouted! It is not my style to throw away a pot before I am sure there will never grow anything in it, but I am getting a bit impatient for a specie which is supposed to be easy to grow and sprout...
The 9th NECPS meeting took place on Saturday, and i just want to share some of the photos i took there.

Hi,
Is there any special thing I can do with seeds arriving from overseas after 1 week in transit? Do I refrigerate them for a while or sow them straight away?
These are seeds that do not require stratification to germinate.
If the seeds req stratification, what is the proper way to do it? Do...
2 questions:
1)Do p.planifolia and p.ionatha seeds need to be stratified?
2)If already stratified and sent in the mail, does the recipient need to stratify again before planting?
Thanks!
