In my experience the seed of SE USA Pings requires no stratification to germinate well. This seed is short-lived and should be sown as fresh (soon) as possible.
Yep, just scatter them on your soil mix, usually peat/sand. I have found that keeping ionantha flooded will keep these "annuals" living for quite some time. I have had my coloney of flowering size plants for about 2-3years!
