    Sowing Darlingtonia californica seeds

I have horrible luck and skill with Darlingtonia californica. My first one I lost (literally) when I tried to give it cool, flowing water from the stream that runs behind us. Unfortunately, a few inch rainstorm raised the water level significantl and turned the gentle stream into a raging river...

    D. filiformis var. filiformis florida all red

I will be trying this myself but wondered if any has done it already. I recieved seed today from the ICPS, D. filiformis var. filiformis Florida all Red. P. vulgaris germination

I sowed some seeds of P. vulgaris without doing the studying up I should have and understand they need a stratification. I don't think 55-60F in my basement is enough (is it). What's the best course of action?

    D. capensis help

The savage garden says that my D. capensis needs stratification, is it really nesasary? Also, it told me to store them in the fridge till I use them was that ok? Also, is vermaculite safe for dew seeds?

    Muahahahaha

Well, some of you may know remember from last year that I lost about 100 seeds from damp off and irregualar temperature changes during stratification. Well, I now have my OWN refridgerator that is going to be completely set apart for stratification, and the such. I'm soooo happy!

    Meristocaulis, others

Who wants to guess what needs to be done to the Drosera Sundew Matt was selling early-er. He guessed it did not need stratification. I have not been able to contact Fernando and ask what he thought though.

    Seed stratification

For newbies like myself, I find seed stratification and germination to be a complex subject. I can't telll which species require cold stratification and which need to be sown right away. Is there a rule of thimbto follow? I tried applying what seemed to be a "common sense" approach to it, but I...

    Let there be light?

Another question for you guys: I was wondering, if cold stratification can be done with little or no light, does that mean that, conversely, bright light is needed fot hot stratification?

    Of fridge and cold stratification

Hi guys! Quick question for you : When seeds are kept in the fridge to keep them fresh, do they still need cold stratification (for those species who need it, obviously) or did the fridge do the trick? Basically, do they need the humidity hwile they are kept cold in order to trigger the...

    Stratifying again

I'm surprised that it is suggested to stratify for 3-4 weeks. I thought it would be longer(like 2 months or so). So when you remove the seeds from stratification...will they need light and warmth right away for this "head start"?

    Drosera filiformis var. filiformis

Hello, I was wondering if anyone is currently growing the Florida all red Drosera filiformis var. filiformis. I got some seed today and wanted to see some photos of the plants if possible. Fridge's stratification compartment

Why do appliance manufacturers write "Butter" on a refrigerator's seed stratification compartment?  Is it to fool burglar's into not looking there for rare Sarracenia seeds?
