Of fridge and cold stratification

Hi guys!
Quick question for you :

When seeds are kept in the fridge to keep them fresh, do they still need cold stratification (for those species who need it, obviously) or did the fridge do the trick?
Basically, do they need the humidity hwile they are kept cold in order to trigger the process?

Thanks, as always.

The fridge acts as cold stratification. Not sure about humidity, though.

No, they definitely need to be stratified on some type of moist media to be counted as a 'cold dormacy'

One thing to be aware of, from what I have read, but not experienced - is that some people have had trouble with mold and utilize fungicides. Just a thought, when it comes to keeping things moist.
