Hi guys.
I have a small "terrarium" (more of a wood box, really) with my Nepenthes there. The terrarium is 2x2x2 feet. I have 2 CFL bulbs (27w and 32W, the lumen output is nowhere to be seen), 1x13W T5 (740 lumen) and 1x36W PLL (1770 lumen). All the lights are 6500k. They are inside the...
Well, apropos of a recent thread, I decided to start a new one here that is on-topic, of that off-topic discussion :jester:
When I was first starting out, in all the instructions I found, the proverbial 'they' described a certain potting medium, certain humidity, a grow setup, which plants...
I was going through my plants today, repotting and such and it has come to my attention that I need to make some room in my collection. So this plant is getting the boot. I haven't been giving it the attention it deserves so it doesn't currently have any pitchers on it, but it is forming one...
I can already tell some plants are hitting the slow decline to dormancy, and the rest will probably slow down soon too. Because everything is outside in natural light, or behind a window with the same, even the Neps stop pitchering for the season once the hours of daylight dips beneath their...
Getting an ampullaria red soon! I looked around many sources for the care sheet and they were all kinda contradicting each other. Some said to give it shade since it grows on the forest floor in the wild, some said to give it full direct sunlight.
So I decided to ask you guys for your...
A couple of months ago I purchase from EP a specimen plant Nepenthes x [(lowii x veitchii) x (boschiana x campanulata)] and a day ago I notice it has a flower spike. The plant is just producing new leaves and pitchers so no mature pitchers yet, so I don't have a picture of the pitcher (I...
This giveaway for a N. x Gentle (fusca x maxima) is open to anyone and everyone. It is just starting to show color in its pitchers.

I was at a garden festival and saw a plant that was very interesting. Here are the facts that I know:
-It was a Nepenthes
-It had small squat shaped pitchers that were red in coloration
-I was told that it was something "new"
-It was a lowland cross
-It was imported
Any idea what Nep it...
Ive noticed on some of my plants the pitchers are all facing the same exact direction, regardless of the position of the leaf theyre attached to. Some have tendrils that make journies across their pots just to make sure they inflate right next to several other pitchers (see my N. burkei a few...
Hey everyone. Its been a few months since I have been active here. Its time for me to give back to the community! I will be doing two giveaways.
The first one is for people that are NEW to the hobby, seasoned veterans probably dont want these plants anyway heh. Requirements are that you have...
My nepenthes ampullaria pitchers seem to have some sort of discoloration issue. On all of the pitchers but one it looks almost as if something had chewed on it removing a layer of cells, it's hard to describe. I don't know if its physical ( if something actually ate the pitchers) or chemical (...
Must be a semi active poster, no new people please. Keep in mind this is a large plant already and will just keep getting larger given proper care. Currently measuring approx. 22" X 18". Currently being grown in a flood/drain setup with it roots allowed to grow down into fertilized water...
I have a tiny N. dubia that I bought along with the two same size hamata and aristo about two years ago. One hamata has over tripled in size, the aristo is growing, albiet slowly and the second hamata is also growing very slowly. But the dubia is growing the slowest. It appears healthy and...
As the title says, I'm looking for D. linearis. Doesn't have to even be a mature plant. Seeds, seedlings, strikes, or even fresh cuttings are welcome; I can root them myself. Just looking to own a specimen or two of the species.
I have a few things to trade, but not much.
P. esseriana
D. sp...
Eeeek there be holes and missing bits on the tomato plants. Well to be honest the plants can spare the extra foliage at this time of year.
Here are the culprits. Lacanobia oleracea, the Bright-line Brown-eye moth caterpillar.
Also known to gardeners as the Tomato Moth, I can't work out why...
Lately, the insect populations have been decreasing as the impending doom
of winter looms near. As a result, I see that the grow chambers are in need
of more food.
My question to those who answer:
What fertilizers do you use on your Asian pitchers, and why?
Which brand is better for which...
I have had a Nepenthese Ventrata for 6 years now. For several years it struggles and didn't grow much. It started vining a few year ago, and a year ago I trimmed off some tiny sucker vines and some dying yellowed ones, and it took off. It has 3 vines, the tallest is 4 feet. I have it propped up...
I've noticed some nice pitchers developing in good colors. These plants are new in my care and they really brighten me up. Glad I've been poisoned into Neps ha!
Nepenthes Viking : From a friend has color very nicely. Here's the development.

Nepenthes Viking Seed grown : Like a baby...
My N. hamata seems to have shrinking teeth on the pitchers, although nothing else on the plant has changed for the worse. Anyone else ever experience this? Pitcher size is relatively the same… Am I just paranoid? haha
