Hey guys, so Ive had a very large surplus of rainwater this year. In the previous years, there was never much of a problem with
it, but this year the water is... different.
Every time I open a container it smells horrible.
Like vomit mixed with rotting flesh then thrown into a bog. The rain...
I visited another bog early this morning. I've been to this location several times but, the S.purpurea here are unusually beautiful. This is also the only place I've seen Drosera x beliziana, the natural hybrid of D.intermedia and D.rotundifolia.
Drosera rotundifolia
Drosera intermedia...
Today the NECPS got together in western Massachusetts to visit a few of the local bogs. We toured 3 different sites in the region and saw some amazing plants.
Site #1. While the CP's we saw at this site were impressive, the orchids stole the show today.
The general habitat where all the...
Hello again community,
I am reaching out to see if anyone out there in plant land has any outdoor varieties to spare for a bog I am building for an internship with Portland State University.
I got a 2 sars and 1 flytrap but am needing a little more.
I would love a filiformis and a few more sars...
Here's the deal:

Today a few of the NECPS members took a trip to a few bogs on the Cape. We visited 3 different locations, all somewhat close to each other yet all ecologically different.
Site # 1
The entrance road and habitats where we found the plants . A fairly dry site, very unique among New England bog...
i want to do a into bog garden using aquariums, and like could i adapt this for inside, and just use the right type of light system? and what about the sand?
I was checking my moss trays for new growth, when I found 2-3 bright green venus flytraps the size of a nickel. They are in pure LFS under a 4x2000 lumens grow set up, moss is live and is watered from the side so that the enclosure is nearly flooded. Is this a good setup for them, and how...
Hi plant community,
I am looking for a few good carnivorous plant varieties (Sarracenia, Dionaea, D. filiformis or any other species that would be suitable) for a container bog garden I am creating on campus. Thank you for your support and I will gladly reimburse for shipping cost.
:hail:
These plants are seed grown from parent stock collected at White's Bog NJ. I'm offering a clump of approx. 5 - 7 seedlings of the year. I pay shipping to the US only. I'll get a pic up later. Giveaway is for Green members only. In the interest of full disclosure, the parent stock was collected...
I am finalizing my "getting out of the inside CP collection business". I had traded/sold off a bunch of helis, neps, and cephs last year after doing a division to two. I held onto a few small stragglers to grow them out a bit before moving them on. I haven't been tending the humidity on my...
So I decided I needed to pick up cave diving, and thus I ended up in Northern Florida. Considering I was already going to be around pitcher plant country, I spent a couple days after my dive classes wandering the swamps. Since I couldn't find anyone else to go hang out in the swamp with me, I...
I have a purple pitcher plant in full sun, small tray of water and 3x3x4 inch pot. After it got here, most of the pitchers where dead so I cut it back save one. It put out two new ones since I had it, but they are only half the size of the old one and are green rather than red. Should it be...
Hello folks.
I have 2 starts of American cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) for trade.
Here's a picture of the species.
It's my first year growing cranberry and it seems to be quite happy alongside my Sarracenia in a peat mix. Both of the starts have roots, and should be enough to start a...
Hey everyone,
For the past few months, I've had a problem with my outdoor cats getting into one of my bog gardens. They'll rip the pitchers off my sarracenia, step all over my drosera, and pull my VFT out of the soil and leave it on my deck, traps all bitten off. Miraculously, all of the plants...
Hi guys. Thought y'all would think this was cool. Gives a great profile of what plants associate with our beloved CPs. It's sort of like a video field guide.
One of the people that took my recent class on growing CPs actually went to visit them! She made a video.
Really cool site and one I hope...
Pictures and Questions, that is!
Learned a few new things in a thread started by Jimscott, so I decided to make a new thread to show some pictures, and ask some questions. At any rate, I offered seeds from a plant that probably won't produce any viable seeds  (not knowing any better -...
Hey everybody! So I went out of town for 2 weeks with a solemn promise from my boyfriend that he would check my trays for dryness and water them while I was gone, but alas he did not and with what small rain we did receive my plants are looking rough. The vft's and the Sarracenia purpurata are...
In recent years my hobbies have been focused around living wall set ups & growing orchids indoors. About a year ago I acquired two N. alata that were very patient with me while I figured out their care. Then I recently started looking into pings when I developed a gnat problem in my orchid...
Hey Guys! I don't post very often, but have enjoyed reading what everyone has learned about cps through the forums.
As Dragoness has just demonstrated...sarracenia can be pretty tough. Many other forum members here have also shown off their bogs in areas normally too cold for most cps (which I'd...
