Hey all, I scored a NOID Sarracenia at the BACPS show and, although I'm by no means any type of expert, I'm gonna go ahead and assume the monstrous thing is in sore need of a repotting:
My question: is it too late in the season for it? Should I just slack-pot it for the rest of the season...
I've been wondering about this for a while and have never found a direct answer..... Maybe there isn't any or maybe the answer is specific to the genus or type of plant. ??? So, I thought I would ask here.
Let's say I want to cross 2 different plants that are capable of hybridizing and...
Here are a couple of shots of new Heliamphora leaves for Spring. Of the two, H. chimantensis is, by far, the better of the two at capturing wasps. When I trimmed away last year's leaves, they were full of ichneumonid wasps; and both species assume a dark red color as the pitchers age . . ...
Just some photos I took today:
Full Collection
Nepenthes Miranda. Has quite a few growth points. I got it last fall, finally got one in good condition. Has been growing in my window this winter so that's why it's growing sideways.
When I bought this from a local nursery it was labled as...
This I believe is U.subulata. Saw it growing in the Green Swamp in NC.

Hello.
I have some lonely sarracenias.
S. x 'Leah Wilkerson'. 3 flowers.
S. "wild pollinated" minor. 1-2 flowers. 3 plants of varying minor pureness.
S. leucophylla "Florida". 1 flower.
Im sure there will be more as well.
I have at least one 'Leah' spoken for with some Reptilian Rose.
I...
I know there's a few threads kicking around about D. regia care, but I was wondering if I could get the latest info on care for this species. I've heard this plant is easy to care for, and I've heard it is hard.
Here's my understanding of how to grow it so far:
Humidity - not too picky...
what types of "easy to care for" utrics form a carpet of grass on the bottom of fishtanks? my hairgrass and U. subulata arent really doing it, i assume its because i dont have co2 injection or fertilizers. i do have high light level though
my tank is sand with a very thin top layer of small...
I have had a number of neps that I got from a "no tag" $5 sale last year. Two died immediately, two hung on, and one is doing well, though slow. The one that I'm most concerned about is this one:
While one of the two "TLC" plants liked it's move to the LL tank, this one clearly DIDN'T. I can...
Ok you can send an SASE for regular 1st Class postage or a $1.50 for 1st Class in a padded envelope. US only. I add put amark8195 and Lil Stinkpot as signed up already as per previous posts. If you're not interested remove your name. I will add some padding to regular SASE but assume no...
The last couple of years I have winterized my minibog by cutting all the Sarrs except the Purpureas down to nubs. Then putting a sheet of card board over them. I then cover that with two bales of straw. And then another sheet of cardboard over the bales to keep them dry. I assume dry bales will...
i have an nepenthes miranda ive never had a nepenthes flower before so i assume its male because every other nepenthes miranda has been a father. so i will get some pics up just to make sure pm with offers we'll split the seeds 50/50. thanks
Figured I might as well keep running pics threads for the month seeing as how I love my plants and taking pictures of them too :p

Hello Internet!
I bought a Nepenthes Species 1 (I assume this means no species name has been given yet?) about 2 months ago and while the plant seems to be doing well (nice shade of green, firm, no massive parts of it shriveling away), it seems to have slowed its growth to a crawl. I expected...
I noticed this wasp earlier this evening on some Sarracenia seedlings. It was moving very slowly, due to the temperature, I assume, although it wasn't that cold. Maybe 55 degrees outside. Anyway, he let me get some nice close-ups, and I was even able to pet it. Maybe it was drunk on nectar.
I'm considering getting some mixed varieties but am curious as to whether they could overwinter in a terrarium environment. I was initially reading the ICPS page which mentioned that seedlings can be grown under lights without dormancy with the intent of moving them outside and into their...
So I've sown some D. Venusta seeds in a pot with 50/50 peat/pearlite and had them in the pot for a few weeks in the windowsill. After not seeing any results I removed the plastic bag (it's been off for about a week now) and now I'm seeing what I think is some microscopic seedling growth...
Hello everybody,
I received my small seed lot import permit earlier this summer. While I checked off Orlando (one of the options - and a 40 minute round trip), it came back with the point of entry as Miami (approximately a 7 hour round trip). My questions:
1) Is it correct to assume that it is...
As you may well know, I torture my plants something awful. I leave them outside in the scorching San Diego sunshine, and water them once a week (in a cocoa chunk + lfs with some perlite mix) without misting them except for with neem if I see any bugs.
I've bought plants from the U.S. as well...
Over my past few years active on this board I have seen very little information on growing N. Northiana. While an incredibly beautiful, well-known species, it seems very few people, especially in the US cultivate this plant. If they do, I can't find them anywhere. :-D Last week I finally felt...
