NASC auction is OPEN!!
Hello folks ! this week-end i will explore a big bog in my region.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dals09/7299153552/" title="blainville bog de dals009, sur Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8017/7299153552_02323b2484.jpg" width="500" height="393" alt="blainville bog"></a>

I will try to find:

Sarracenia purpurea
Sundew rotundifolia
Sundew anglica
Sundew intermedia
Sundew linearis
Pinguicula vulgaris
Pinguicula villosa
Utricularia resupinata
Utricularia purpurea
Utricularia cornuta
Utricularia geminiscapa
Utricularia vulgaris
Utricularia gibba
Utricularia minor
Utricularia intermedia

I hope i will take good pictures and videos.

Its very sad because the Gov here dont care about the humid areas, and the bog will disapr very soon!

I will try to take some plants sample for multiplication and distribution.

i look forward to hearing how it went! i should go to my local wetland and take some pics as well :) its bout that time of year!

"I will try to take some plants sample for multiplication and distribution."

I think you better check with the authorities about that, because unless you are exploring privately owned land and you have obtained permission from the landowner to remove plant material, this kind of thing is highly discouraged.

yeah, i hadnt even noticed that. taking plants from the wild is not commonly accepted amoung most CP enthusiasts. seed is usually okay

Too late... looks like they put a Wallmart up already.

A Wallmart!! cool if i need something like waterboots :P

nah seriously...

"taking plants from the wild is not commonly accepted amoung most CP enthusiasts.*"

I KNOW ! im the first saying that, BUT in a few months, the bog will disapr for commercials centers.
I HAVE to go in there, laws or not. I will take the species i can save, and multiply them.
And i have to take pictures/videos for memories.

You guys agree ?
If not, i will stay home. Total respect for the cps.

This is one of the first times I've ever heard of a bog being destroyed in Canada. They're usually left alone up there, so Im extremely baffled right now.

The canadian gov (stephen harper) protect this kind of lands.... Normally.
I dont know whats going on there. The bog in question is in the blainville town, and the city want another big road(echangeur in french). And the city of blainville will build a entire industrial and commercial area right on the site.
Some ecological groups and ppl (like me) are very disapointed about the gov decision (or inaction).

(Sorry for my bad english, i learning right now) :)

Your English is great! :) no need to apologize. I wish I could speak another language half as well as you

and thats a shame.. once these places are paved over, it will never have a chance to go back to what it once was. forever a lost world :(

I am torn many times when it comes to wild caught or harvested life. Nature should stay with its mother, but when the mother is being destroyed---KILLED---the children must survive one way or the other, whether that be divine intervention or the hand of a Maiden. The collector was once the Devil, now are we possibly the savior. With all of this said, I still do not know if it is a good idea.

I understand the need for speed in this case but I would recommend contacting the property owners and asking to salvage plants on land that is to be developed. They might be happy to grant permission. I wish you success, Maiden.
