I didn't want to do this but I have no other choice... *dun dun dun* My insect problem with my Sarracenia catesbaei plants has not gotten any better. I believe I have some sort of caterpiller problem but can never find them... either that or slugs and snails judging by the kind of damage. I...
Hi,
Long time sonce I posted here :)
On another forum Geoff Mansell was asking about our N. rajah. Here are a few photos. All the plants are from TC from the usual 4 clones. They have been in TC for around 20 years and no mutations (so far). We don't know yet whether they are male or female...

Just a few moments ago I went to check out my mini-bog and after seeing a few deformed pitchers coming from my S. catesbaei I decided I better have a closer look.
The other day we had been shucking corn on the front porch near my mini-bog and just plucked out the corn worms that were nibbling...
I have recently acquire a pot of vft. I noticed that some of the trap have a slightly blackish side. I place it near the window to enable it to have sufficient sunlight. What do i have to do to make sure it grows well? Do i nd to place insects for it to eat? (I heard they thrive on neglect)...
I have a VFT I bought from lowes. At first it was producing large traps, but now the new traps have been around 1/2 inch. I was feeding it one insect per week if it wasnt catching anything. I only use distilled water. I slowly put in full sun. Am I doing something wrong?
My Sundews are being attacked by some type of pest that I'm having a hard time controlling. I'm sorry if these are a duh-duh comment pest, but I havn't been able to find a good match on the description of them through my searches.
They seem pretty straight forward, tiny, tip of a pencil size...
I am new to the Cp growing and maybe its just a newbie thing, but I recently put my Venes fly trap outside. I have been feeding it about every two days after the previously trap (unless it has caught something) and when I look at my VFT I see a trap sprung I put it up to the light to see the...
Has anyone ever planted something that attracted butterflies or houseflies or some other insect and put it next to their carnivorous plants?
I am wondering because my friend and I were at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, and in their herb garden they had this crazy rosemary that was attracting...

After reading several sites, care sheets, books, etc. on VFTs I have retained two particular statements about coloring up a VFT’s traps:
1) Traps tend to color up more easily in fall, as the plant is entering dormancy.
2) Traps tend to color up more easily if the plant has not had a “meal” in a...
A moth landed in one of my traps and when the trap closed, maybe 1/3 of the month was sticking out of the trap. Is this ok and will the trap digest it all or just the parts inside the trap?
Also, how long will it take to digest and re-open? and what about traps that only half closed, how long...
oye - as if aphids wasn't enough to make things hard - i got a couple other problems now.
For one thing, a green slimy mold is growing - now i read about it, and it is an algae that grows in the moist soil conditions, but it bothers me none the less. What i have read is that you can scrape it...
As many of you know, there is some debate as to whether Passiflora foetida is carnivorous or not. Its flowers are surrounded by sticky bracts that ensnare bugs. It is mentioned in Barry Rice's new book (WHICH you can bid on and win a SIGNED copy in another auction). hehe...a little listing plug...
Hi everyone I've been breeding daddy long legs and releasing them into the garage(and the neighbors house:D) These are the only things that reminded me of....[PM me for story] before I...[PM me for story]
These daddy long legs may seem different from where you live. This is from Long Beach...
I'm slightly concerned about 3 of my big-mouth traps. Using the setting sun, i checked the contents of all the traps, and discovered that 3 of them had nothing in them - they were pouted out like they were filled with something - and upon giving them some light squeezes, they were very tense and...
Okay.. so let's take a look at some of the variety available for insects on my grow shelf...
We've got.. a carpet of dewy pygmeas to the left...
...and a nice big hungry P. 'Aphrodite' to the right...
but this insect.. has something better in mind... it's going for "bigger" game.. like...
Hi, my name is Kyle. I am currently going to college to become a carpenter. I have taken an interest in flytraps along time ago but just recently started studying them to see which one that I want. I have my eye on a purple pitcher Sarracenia but am not want to keep it inside alot in a pot...
About two months ago I bought a pitcher plant from Lowes. It was in the regular dome type thing and was green. I repotted it into a bigger pot and with moss. The moss had some minerals in it and I was worried that it might die but luckily it did not. One of the pitchers died, but there is...
