I went outside to water my Sarrs and bent down to remove a dried up maple leaf from the bottom of the pot, to discover that over the course of the last couple months, they divided - the Judith Hindle now has 4 well-defined growth points and the x Catesbaei has three.
I'm gonna need more pots...
I had a chance to go to Tarkiln Bayou Trail last weekend. I was so happy to find a place to visit on our vacation in Orange Beach, AL.
Then, I was just going to take pictures from the road at Weeks but I saw the beautiful Pine Lily, Lilium catesbaei, and and I had to get out to take...
Now that we're edging our way to the end of summer, I thought I'd toss up a few more pics before it was too late.
This is a follow-up to my previous post "Part 2" (also with pics so you can see progress).

Every now and then, Sarracenia rhizomes may create a new growth point close to the main growth point. After a few weeks, this growth point will make a few pitchers; these pitchers may be the size equivalent to those of Sarracenia seedlings. If left alone, in a few years this growth point will...
Well, today, we (parents and i) went to the person where we buy lots of cps. Anyways, my dad bought:

Well, I gave it a go. I tried to like them. I grow them alright. But Sarracenia just don't do a thing for me.
I've decided to trade away my minibog's entire contents (including the container of people want it).
Here is a list of what is in the bog:
Sarracenia
alatamin?
catesbaei
flava
minor...
I have a sarracenia x mitchelliana (leucophylla x purpurea), catesbaei (flava x purpurea), and flava var flava. I would like to trade all three to the same person. Looking for a nice sarracenia cultivar or nep. PM me if interested.
Today when i woke up, i went outside to check on my outdoor cp's. To my absolute horror, i saw that every single pot that had sphagnum moss (live or not live) in it, that had been sitting in a water tray, had been stripped of more than 50% of the sphagnum.
It seems to me that a raccoon thought...

My oldest mini-bog, in its fourth year. It has all the little bug series in it, but hard to pick some of them out. 'lady bug' is middle-right, 'doodle-bug' is lower-left, 'june bug' is lower middle, 'red bug' is...

I recently got two Sarracenia x catesbaei plants from a local nursery, and I just kept them in the same 4" square pots they came in, with some moss on top. Each is sitting in a clear, round plastic container. After it rains, the water in the container is orangish. Since it's raining right now...
I bought these yesterday at a local nursery, and the 4" pots have all this growth around them. The plants seem healthy, but I was wondering if I should remove all this excess plantlife around them...
