New mini Akai Ryu parent.
I am interested in other (mini) carnivorous plants that will complement this sub-species in an arrangement and that can handle in the desert. Currently the plant has been on a south windowsill for a week. Plan is to put it outside on an Eastern balcony to receive 4-5...
Hi guys!
I just wanted to spread the word that the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in Birmingham, AL will be having an upcoming workshop on carnivorous plants. The workshop, which falls on Sept. 5th, is a 4-hour introduction to CPs. The instructor will be yours truly, and for the most part it's...
Just spent the strangest hour and a half. I trimmed and re-potted plants that were neither orchids or carnivorous. I mean my hands were touching actual potting soil, not "media" or sphagnum. It, it, it just didn't feel normal. What's worse, now I don't know where to put them come cold weather...
There's something eating my Dana's Delight, but not my purpurea or any other plant in the bog pot. It chews small holes into the side of the pitcher, which falls over after a couple days of this. I haven't seen what it is yet, but I think it's some sort of katydid. I'll stay up later to see...
Just posted on the ICPS forum:

Two new pages by the IUCN Carnivorous Plant Specialist group.
There is a forum type page: www.facebook.com/groups/1462966880625521/ and a businiss type page with no discussion just information...
Some of us (myself included) love to go out into the wetlands and see carnivorous plants in their natural habitat. Some are found everywhere (Drosera capillaris) but others are quite rare.
Is there a rare one that you look for?
Personally, I've been going nature hiking for 15 years and I'm...
It's getting to be that time of year again folks, time for the 12th Annual Fall Carnivorous Plant Show sponsored by the New England Carnivorous Plant Society !
We will be hosting the show at a new venue this year, the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, Massachusetts ! The show will be held...
I don't know if there's an Aristolochia thread already, but I decided to start one. These are cool plants that are in no way carnivorous, but they do typically trap their pollinators for a day or so, releasing them when their pollen matures.
Aristolochia chilensis, first time bloom. Plant...
Hello there. This forum appears to be a great resource. I am COMPLETELY new to this hobby with zero experience with bog plants and carnivorous plants of any kind. I am, however, an avid hobbyist in the aquarium world for many years and seasoned forum user.
Wanted to drop by and say hello...
Last year I took a trip to the northern portion of Michigan and the southern portion of Upper Peninsula. On the trip I encountered various carnivorous plants and orchids.
Emmet County (Day 1):
The first site was quite unique compared to similar sites I have been to. All of these plants...
This subject arose in discussion yesterday with Stephen Morley at his open day. I mentioned my Liverworts and said a carnivorous one would link two of my plant types and there it is.

BTW , it's North American too
Fool-proof Aldrovanda culture... in a bucket
DISCLAIMER: not fool-proof. If you are a fool, this might not work.
I didn't come up with my Aldrovanda approach. pearldiver (Paul!) did all the leg work on this. If anything I tweaked this setup to make it easier for me and less beneficial for the...
Hi all!
I've grown carnivorous plants (in their hundreds—mainly Utricularia, Sarracenia, Drosera) for 10+ years—but that's a while ago.
In 2008, I had to give up my large collection... *sniff*.
I'm getting back into it now, although I don't think I'll be able to go as crazy again as I used to...
This is absolutely horrible news, but I wanted to share it with members here in case any of you knew him. I apologize if this has already been posted somewhere or if this isn't the place to post it (moderators please move/remove it if so).
Last night I received an email from someone asking if...
