I Was Killing My ventrata. Now What?

I found out today, through the chat room, that the reason my ventrata was doing so bad is because it doesn't like much direct light. Right now, I have a half dozen or so brownish, deformed leaves on it, from drying out. Some are just kind of yellow. I've since moved the plant to the porch...

    My poor plants!

Here in Florida, it's been raining like crazy the past week. About two weeks ago, I bought a ten-gallon fish tank to put my plants in. There was no lid or anything. I looked at my plants yesterday, and the fish-tank with my plants was filled to the very top with rain-water. All my plants were...

(pics) D. adelae - First timer vs. Lowe's deathbox

I got this at Lowe's today. It's just labeled "Drosera," but it looks to be adelae to my newb eye. All their CPs were on a bottom shelf in the indoor room of the garden center, getting NO light at all, let alone sunlight. They had a few "red pitcher" plants and smaller Drosera. They all looked...

Would you rather own one rare plant, or a large collection of common ones?

If you had to choose between owning one rare and special carnivorous plant (Cephalotus, Nepenthes Hamata, Heliamphora, etc) or owning lots of common carnivorous plants (Venus Fly Traps, Sarracenia, Pinguicula, etc) which would you choose? Personally, I would own one rare carnivorous plant and...

    P. primuliflora from a leaf pull?

I was plucking old, dead leaves from a plant and accidentally pulled a live one from the base. For the lark of it I placed it in media, expecting it to rot with a couple days. A week has gone by and the leaf is still green. So perhaps it may actually produce a new plant, like a Mexican butterwort.

    Hello everyone!

I'm Kevin and I live in New Albany, Indiana (which is in the southern part of Indiana). I've been growing carnivorous plants for about four months or so. My love affair began as a child, when I massacred many venus flytraps. About four months ago, I decided to pick up a purple pitcher plant from...
