My Venus flytrap is growing leaves, but rather that staying upright, they always arc downward into the soil; other than that they're fine. What might cause this irregularity?
My hypotheses are low humidity, low light, bad water, poor air circulation, or my sundew and butterwort making something...
I recently bought a Pinguicula primuliflora and I have three questions which are:
1. When I bought it from the nursery, it already had flowers. Will these impact the plant's future health?
2. I peered at the flowers very closely and saw no female flower parts. Is this species a male/female...
Come spring I'd like to start collecting a couple butterworts.
I have a really nice, sprawling collection of Sundews, Nepenthes, VFTs, Sarrs and even bladderworts. Pings are my last unexplored territory (completely unexplored). I was wondering if anybody could recommend some good, starter...

In the past year or two i have become...
Pinguicula esseriana 'Giant' has been in my collection since June of 2008.
It is most likely the largest of the P. esseriana species varieties, with these rosettes shown above measuring just over an inch in diameter.
These mexi-pings are colorful and possess a uniformly compact growth...

So I have two Pinguicula and was told their name is Pinguicula 'John Rizzi'. Now I have been looking all over to see how to take care of them and all I've been getting are brief descriptions but nothing more and since I know almost nothing about CPs I'm kinda wanting more. :P So do these lovely...
I just dumped a pot because it got covered with a mix of mold and algae and some other green c@#&. It looked like this but 100x worse, with dark green dry patches and fluffy white mold everywhere:
It was one of my first pots and I did not wash and microwave the peat : perlite mix that it...
I am very concerned about a small D. adelae that I keep in a vivarium with my White's tree frog. I have several carnivorous plants in this vivarium--a venus fly trap, a butterwort (P. moctezumae) and two D. adelae. The other plants are doing fine, the butterwort especially. But the smaller D...
I'm looking for a Pinguicula to grow in my Cephalotus pot. The soil is 1 part peat, 2 parts perlite, 1 part sand with a thin top-dressing of sphagnum moss.
The Cephalotus is on one side of the 4-inch pot, giving me 2.5 inches of open area. I would like to fill that open area with another...
Well this is my set-up today. I just constructed it today. My VFTs and other Purple Picher and Yellow Trumpet are outside.
I reported my nepenthes, sundews and butterwort... I bought some peat moss, ready to use perlite, and orchid bark. I also bought another Purple Pitcher while I bought those...
Hello, I am new here. I was referred to this site by spdskr. Right now I only have the basic CPs that are easily gotten from Lowes and local garden centeres. I hope to get other types one day, or maybe even raise a CP from seedingly!
I have a normal VFT, Drosera adele, Cape Sundew, Purple...
Hi,
I've recently started looking into raising CPs again. I grew up in Hawaii, raised orchids, bromeliads, tillandsias, and everything that I could get to grow. My parents did purchase me a Flytrap and that sparked my interest. Within a few months the local nurseries were bringing in other...
Hello friends!,
I would like to grow the dewy pine because it would do perfectly in my area and because I love to collect and trade seed. If I were to get some seeds, I could probably grow them successfully and enrich the forum with the seeds I harvest.
So, besides getting something in return...
My new "South American setup". I've got Brocchinia, Heliamphora Minor, Drosera Graminifolia, and Drosera Intermedia "Cuba" in this pot, along with a mystery non-carnivore.
Nepenthes Truncata and Drosera Spatulata:
Mexican Butterwort pot (Agnata "El Lobo", Pirouette, and Moranensis "D")...
Hey guys, I'm new here, but I've been growing some cp's for a little while now, after doing a lot of homework. I've been looking all over the net for P. vulgaris in the lower mainland, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Despite being called the common butterwort, it's not so common in...
I moved my plants back outside today from the garage, and when I was trimming off brown and black parts, I saw some of my plants already started their spring growth. :-D But I also saw some other stuff that I'm going to ask about.
What is this, and what should I do about it? I guess it's a...
