well, i've got these simply beautiful mexican butterwort hybrids from blokeman, thanks bloke ( everyone cheer for bloke now) and they have just got bigger and stickier! i don't know what to do, i'm worried that if they don't go all fleshy, succulent and non sticky soon, they won't make it through the winter. here they are:

You have them growing in a wet soil. I think the soil has to dry out for them to go into succulent stage.

Cooler temps, less light, and less water should get them succulent.

Regarding initiation of dormancy, light cycle is by far the determining factor as with most genera having a dormancy. Note I have had plants grow for years without dormancy by keeping the daylength on a long day cycle with no adversity.

Some Pings go into a tight succulent stage far more readily than others. If your plants don't want to do it then why force them? I don't think that missing out on this stage harms Mexican Pings IMHO. To my mind it is more of a simple survival strategy to drier, cooler conditions, often accompanied by increased flowering.

thanks everyone. i guess i'm not going to give them dormancy, i want to still enjoy their liveliness, so i'll just keep them in the terra forever. bye!
