As usual, I went to go water my neps and prune away the dead leaves and such, and decided to dig up the bromeliad I had put in the yard because it smelled (water tank + dying flowers = GROSS) while it was making pups. Well, I did manage to get two pups off of it - one big and one that was...
I have a Home Depot bromeliad that looks like it needs repotting because the black squishy stuff it's potted in is crumbly and coming out of the bottom of the pot. I've had it in the stuff it came in (in the pot) since I got it last year. I don't know what to repot in, but I do have copious...

And here are some of my other plants:
And here's my entire micro-greenhouse:
Yep, I'm trading away an orchid and a bromeliad. I haven't the first clue about how to properly grow either one of them, as you may be able to see. The Orchid has produced nice leaves, but I managed to kill all the flowers. The bromeliad... *shrug*. House plants are not my thing.
Unfortunately...

so the tops part of my bromeliad is all dry and i decided to se how far the dryness went down, it's only about 1-2 cm from top. it is also making pups, so is it possible that it is slowly withering away, only to be replaced by the baby pups? the pups look amazing, and are about a foot tall now...
So, who here has a carnivorous bromeliad? It can be either Brocchinia reducta or Catopsis berteroniana. Feel free to share your pics and growing advice.
Here's my Brocchinia growing in a 5 inch pot with a soil of peat and perlite:
Hey guys,
I was randomly looking at epiweb's website and saw this pic. It looks freaking awsome. I know its a bromeliad. Does someone have this plant ? Would u know where I can find it?
thanks,
Varun
I'm thinking of getting a carnivorous bromeliad (Brocchinia reducta). Is it a difficult plant? What are the basics for it?
Also, can I grow this on my windowsill?
