Hello fellow CPers,
I wanted to make you aware that the Southeastern Flower Show will be having a new division especially for exhibiting CPs. In the past Cps were exhibited in the Plants of the World class. The 2005 show will be held at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, March 2 - 6. Anyone...
Hey,
I've seen Xyris that blooms white at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. If anyone has any, I'd like to trade. I have a yellow Xyris species, D. intermedia - North Carolina seeds, and S. alata - Mississippi seeds. I've looked around, and Xyris is hard enough to find for sale in the yellow...

Mike King has reported that he has heard from a relieable source that the ENTIRE red tube stand in the ANF was poached. Folks we are talking about 1000s of plants here. Mike had also spoken with a represenative at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens' conservation program and that a simlar poaching...
Hey everyone had a great road trip to Florida! Went to Disney, Universal, Islands of Adventure, Seaworld, Busch Gardens for the trip itself. On the way down on I-75 we got to see senile drivers, a mac truck tire exploded about 3 cars ahead of us and to top it all off I got a special photo which...
I live in Atlanta, GA, and have been experimenting with keeping my VFTs outside for dormancy this winter. We have had a VERY unstable winter, with temperatures rising into the 60s and 70s last weekend and daytime highs in the 20s today. One day my VFTs are in spring weather, and the next their...
We are expecting our first hard freeze warning here tonight in Atlanta. The low is expected to be 27F (don't laugh, I know that is nothing to yous guys up North.) So, I picked the last remaining pitcher to prolong my enjoyment another few days. God, I love these plants. It is sooo easy to be...
I received my DVD from Jim and with great anticipation watched it last night. I was moved by the photos and video footage. To know that most of those sites and plants no longer exist; gas stations and KFC restaurants stand where these plants once were, was profoundly saddening. The beauty of...
Thanks everyone for this contribution. Pyro recently wrote this up for your viewing pleasure ;)
Hey all, we seem to have created a huge massive mess out of the old topic so at Ram_Puppy’s request I have cleaned and hacked and made this a bit more readable. It is about that time of year again...
Hey all, we seem to have created a huge massive mess out of the old topic so at Ram_Puppy’s request I have cleaned and hacked and made this a bit more readable. It is about that time of year again and we expect a lot of first timers coming in and posting questions on dormancy, that's GREAT as...
Now that I have saved by VFT by giving it fresh, bone-meal-free potting mixture, I have to start thinking about over-wintering.
I have left all my other carnivourous plants out all winter before with no problems, but I have never had a VFT before.
Is anyone from Atlanta or nearby, and does...
I have just returned for a bogging trip with Jim Millar. We spent two days traversing the gulf coast from Tallahassee to Mobile. It is hard to describe what a thrill it was to see the places I had only read about and see plants in their natural habitats. Yes, it was hot. Yes, there were ticks...
Hi everyone, I'm new to the Forum and need your help.
I have a pot containing two drosera capillaris - one of which is perhaps 6 months older than the other. Other than aphids early in the year (which only affected the now-sickly one), both have done well all summer.
Recently the older one...
