Hi,
My larger water feature has spawned a bunch of new large duckweed and I need to thin it out. Perhaps some of you might want some. I sent out some before and more has grown so if you want some, shout out! The odds are good that you would also get some aquatic snails.:) Email is...
After seeing the aquatic cp's at the ICPS conference in Seekonk, MA last weekend I had to throw a aquatic cp tank 2gether. The day I got home I made up an aquarium and now the tea is ready and the water is stabilized. Im wondering anyone has any aquatic cps that they have a few too many of...
Hi all,
OK, I think I have sorted out the problems I was having with stacking images. The photo below is of an immature drumming katydid (Meconema thalassinum) that I compiled from a stack of 41 images. Its head was no more that 2 or 3 mm across. What do you think?
Now it is time to move on to...
So about 6 months I got some Utrics from Tony, and while they were in excellent condition and grew well for a while, I've had TONS of trouble keeping mold off the media and have lost most of them. However, I recently received some U. dichtoma from flytraplady, and thanks to here advice set them...
I mislabelled the plants and grew them as B. filifolia in moist LFS. They are now flowering at the height of 6cm and THEN I realise that they are actually the aquatic species.
The flowers do not open fully in my conditions.
The seeds were labelled as "copper coloured stems up to...
Where do you get aquatic plant soil? I hear alot of people talk about it concerning Ping's, is it worth getting if available to me? Any information or opinion is appreciated.
Thanks

I'm looking for some of the following to fill in a really neat pot I got.
(CA specific forms, if possible)
Pinguicula macroceras
P. macroceras var. macroceras
Drosera rotundifolia
D. anglica
D. x obovata
The Utrics can go around the pot, since apparently they're all aquatic.
Utricularia...
I know that in the wild S. psittacina has been known to capture aquatic prey during flooding. Does anyone know how long can they be submerged for, or if it would begin to rot or kill the plant due to flooding being a temporary thing? Would it be a possible way to help curb the "wigglers"...
Hi,
I just wanted to know how to make utricularia flower? This year with all the long strands of U. Inflata i have, none flower, in fact they didn't made those floating whorls that allows the, to float and release the flowestalk.
Is the same thing with terrestrial utrics such as U. Longifolia...
Hi,
I recently received two lotus plants in a trade and set up a 24" plastic faux half-whiskey barrel with some other water plants and partially filled it with rain water. They are growing like gangbusters. Now there are several new "inhabitants" who laugh at BT.i . I don't want to just...
Hello everyone,
before proceeding to look at the pics, I would like to share my experience and what I saw.... for being first time I was really pleased with what I saw and learned a lot. I have yet to see more areas in the souther NC counties. My future plan is to go somewhere around the Lake...
I need to re-pot my plant and I'm thinking I would like to try to grow this plant totally submerged in my planted fish aquarium.
Has anyone tried this and how was the outcome?
You will get:
2 x D. adelae
1 x D. spatulata
1 x plug of D. nidiformis
1 x P. moranensis leaf pulling, with baby the size of a dime
And 1 surprise bonus plant (Its a good one, and im not going to name it so A: its a surprise, and B: so people don't take the starter pack just for this plant. :P...
I found an interesting critter today. I won't say from who I got it, just in case it's a pest. I doubt it, though.
Alas, it is effectively microscopic, and I cannot take a picture of it; I haven't the necessary tools. (I wish I did!)
I tried to look it up, but Google just brought up aphids on...
I think I have this at a local lowes. To my understanding its nutrient free and neutral in pH so I thought i might use it instead of sand or perilte which is unavailable. The trouble is, is that this medium is designed to absorb and release nutrients. Will it harm my plants? Can i use it on...
