This may be my first nepenthes basal. at first I thought it was a weed but then noticed it's location in proximity to the other plant's root system and after a gentle tug am pretty much sure this is my first basal shoot......thought it was a ampullaria thing but I guess this winged mirabilis x...
I finally decided to bust out some of my equipment and take some super macro pictures.

My son and I are in gathering mode for CP seeds and plants for his collection. We potted up some Nepenthes seeds today and we had some left overs so we are offering up some Nepenthes seeds and also SUPER HOT Pepper seeds for trade for any CP seeds, gemmae, or plants you might have. We are...

I'm giving ampullaria and bicalcarata a go.
I'm aware of how big these plants go - I hope they do get that big and I have that particular problem (cuttings anyone?)
Anyway, the one thing I want to really make sure I do right is keep the temperature at a steady 85 or so. I live in Nebraska...
will trade for sarracenia, d. oblanceolata and lowland nepenthes(1 stipulation for this trade is I will trade for 1 plant if the other person agrees to accept 2 or more of mine). Time to trim some of the fat from my collection to make way for nepenthes I have been wanting for a while. Other...
I don't think I did this already but if I'm wrong please update me! I am participating in a discussion string about species threatened with extinction and eBay sellers poaching so consider me spanked:-( and no need to bring that up here . Everything I have or are in transit were acquired prior...
I'm planning on getting back into growing CPs, and I will be setting up a nepenthes grow chamber pretty soon. One of the Nepenthes that I most want to grow is N. gymnamphora because it was my favorite when I had neps as a kid. To my understanding, N.gymnamphora is an extremely variable species...
I got an N. ampullaria a few months ago, but I can't really find any good care instructions. I don't really have any experience with carnivorous plants, so I made the mistake of allowing the humidity change suddenly. How do I know when I need to feed him? How much light? Etc. He burns easily...
Up for grabs are some mixed seeds of N. ampullaria these were leftovers from an order I recently received. There are three varieties, red pitcher with green lips, hotlips(green pitcher with red lips), and dark red spotted. I don't know how many of each variety is in the pack but the seeds are...
Okay, so I took my N. ampullaria out of its giant jar about three hours ago to let it air out a bit. I pulled him out of his "pot" so I could get all his dead pitchers off and I may or may not have felt a slight "pop", then I put him back in his pot. I checked on him a moment ago, and his leaves...
Hey everyone. I finally got around to typing up a list for you all. I'm pretty sure I got everything but not 100% sure. Also keep in mind I work in a greenhouse where we've got over 300 species of plants ranging from orchids, ferns, tropical fruits, cactus, ethnobotanicals and more. So if you're...

It took four+ weeks but the first 4 planted of the 14 subspecies are germinating now, it will be some time before I can tell if they sent what they advertised but I can say that the seeds all looked different. Now I have to order in a lens adapter for my Fujifilm S2950 so I can do some...
This is my last -stravaganza thread until the Sarracenia are ready in spring. I think I have a pretty unique setup for my pinguicula. At least I've never seen anyone else with a setup like it. I'll start with a tutorial showing how I made my setup for my pings. In the tutorial, the plant...
Just thought I'd share this info for those who are still considering using GA3 to pre-treat sarracenia seeds, but aren't quite convinced.
I just conducted an experiment on over 500 different seeds of nearly all Sarracenia types and hybrids. I did a 24 hour soak in a 750 ppm mixture of GA3...
I mainly grow native plants, from Florida and Georgia, and carnivores.
If anyone is interested in native plants and their ecosystems of Florida, check out Priceless Florida, printed by the Pineapple Press. The book really gave me a new perspective on the really unique and dynamic ecosystems of...
