Recently bought my first orchids at a local orchid show..
Here's my Sharry baby (Oncidium 'Sharry baby')..Sadly most of the blooms dropped from the shock of being brought home..

One of my Twinkle's buds (Oncidium "Twinkle 'Pinkie'")..It has 4 flower spikes.

My paphiopedilum (Paph. Hilo Ruby "Double diamond" x Hsinying "Glory #2") is sending up what I believe is a flower spike.

Sure! I'm a bit awkward when it comes to plant photos (as opposed to macros), but I'll try...Try to ignore my odd background ; had to move it for good light.

I've only really found one or two other growers of this hybrid on the internet, and one of them believes that they might have a polyploid..The leaves are obviously darker and glossier than most maudiae types, so maybe that has to do with it.

Thanks for the photos. I only asked because they looked darker than a normal hybrid. Wonder what that flower will look like.

Never heard of any of those orchids (except the den.), but they are gorgeous! Great photos, amph.!

Dracula lotax (sorry it took so long Johnny-- I destroyed the first flower before I was able to take a shot, then the consequent spikes decided to abort)

Lepanthes caprimulgus-- quickly became one of my new favorites, i hope it's not hard to see why

Love that Dendrobium, what temps are you growing it in and are you giving it a dormant period?

@cthulhu: thanks again for giving me the opportunity to grow it! hoping the others will follow suit. in terms of leaf and flower ratio, this lepanthes seems to take the cake in comparison to the rest of the miniatures. it's flowers even dwarf the telipogoniflora.
@RSS: temps are whatever San Francisco feels like giving it. about half way between fold foggy and balmy. it gets watered everyday from spring to fall, and once every other day during the winter, since the water takes longer to dry off. as for a dormant period--i havent given it a dormancy, and i dont suspect it needs one either. it is grown on a windowsill and responds to light cycles though. i know the succulent dendrobiums need their dormancy cycles respected, but as far as i know, oxyglossums dont have one.

Nice Amph!! All of those are amazing! I've been meaning to get a D. lotax for a while, I've sort of put my interest in orchids on the back burner recently, but a Masdevallia of mine bloomed this week and reminded me how sweet orchids are. My Epidendrum porpax has exploded with growth recently too. That lepanthes is phenominal man! I really need to get my mits on one of those ASAP! Thanks for the sweet photos!

Lepanthes calydicton has been on my want list for a while now. Someday ...

Love that Dendrobium subuliferum, Jon! Looks like the flower has pretty heavy substance. And that Lepanthes caprimulgus is way too cool! Never heard nor seen that species before. Too bad it appears to be a cool grower. Odds are it would die in my care.

Lil finally broke down a while ago and got herself an orchid that's been on her IT list for quite a while.

The first bloom came and went fast, and the second. This one was developing still during transit, and the little dangles got kinda spoonish, which, really, I think is a little cute. What I think is really awesome is how the dangles tilt when you tip the flower. They are hinged really well.
