yes i was sitting there bummed i couldnt enter any of my nepenthes because i hadent had them in my care for more than 6 months, and i as well love macro shots so i got a new camera an figured hey why not.

absolutly mass macro lenses are not needed as long as it is in a sence a "close up shot"

yeah, these guys are ridiculously good at photography. No way I'm dropping one of my preschool photos in here. Wouldn't want to muddy the waters. ;)

Oh for sure.. but you should make this thing a bit more official. I have a feeling it's going to be a big hit. You should enforce a few more rules though. Like photo has to be taken this month, open and closing times of the contest, etc. It helps promote more picture taking, rather than people hunting through their photobuckets for their best photos.
