Not much to say really. Been into CPs for the past seven years, expanding current collection from a single Lake Poso N. Maxima to include an N. xMiranda, Sanguinae, and Ventricosa(first CP, had to give it up when I moved), as well as a few sundews and an S. Purpurea if I can find a wild one...
Hello all.
As some of you may know from my other recent thread, I have recently completed my second tour of duty in the Army and I am now home after eight years away. Now that I am back, I am once again managing my grandmother's acreage for her, acreage that is prime habitat for CPs. The...
I have heard somewhere that some cp's die in certain mosses, I assume because of the moss degrading and causing spikes in certain chemicals or something.
I dont know because I can't find info on it anywhere but common sense tells me that this problem is most likely more common in bog plants...
Last May, I bought this interesting aloe at Lowe's - it was in a 3 inch pot and was already 5.5" tall. I got it home and got to looking and found out it was a. ciliaris (and I think it's a. ciliaris var. tidmarshii, because the teeth go all the way to the base of the leaf).
And that it would...
I shot some pics of a few wild Sarracenia minor today from my grandmother's property. I've known of and tended to some of these plants for nearly 25 years now. I recently spent eight years in the Army, during which time I didn't tend them. This is the first time that I had a chance to view...
I have setup a new terrarium and would like to run a mister continuously from 8am-8pm, the nepenthes have well draining soils and get morning sun then filtered from 11am onwards, temps are 23C-25C at night and 24C-32C by day, the reason for the misting time is that I have attached a miniature...
Up for bid is one G.radians plant. These are also known as Wine Cups. They grow alongside D.cistiflora in the wild and have similar cultivation needs. Bidding starts at $1.00. Winner pays $6.00 for shipping.
Some pics of the plants in bloom...
You are bidding on a a quart sized bag of live sphagnum moss. This is the Hawaii indigenous form of Sphagnum palustre, it is an all male clone that in its natural habitat and in my growing conditions has never developed a sexual stage. This sphagnum does not need to go dormant and will...
Hey guys,
I am starting a youtube channel that has to do with anything outdoors in the state of NY. I will base most of it on fishing and use my degree in outdoor recreation to my advantage. I just got an outdoor action camera to record video yesterday. This is a work in progress but down the...
I recently received a small N. kampotiana plant that was just coming out of "dormancy", with several basals growing from the rootstalk. I had observed the same plant at a nursery a couple months back. The plant appeared suddenly "crash" and die suddenly. I had heard of this species going through...
I've been wondering for a long time why Genlisea is (or at least seems to be) so rare. The ICPS suggests growing them like terrestrial utrics, which doesn't seem particularly difficult to me. And a few sources mention that they can be weedy like terrestrial utrics. Yet I don't know any place in...
Permission from ICPS was sort from author to put into all forums.

This is probably an "obvious" question, but better safe than sorry. Keep in mind I don't have a TDS meter...
It rained like mad here last week and I collected 20-30 gallons of rain water in some large plastic storage containers. I usually water my Nepenthes with distilled water, but I don't...
Hey Everyone:
With the recent large expansion of my CP collection, I haven't been able to keep up with my need for live sphagnum both to incorporate as media and as a top dressing. I'd like to obtain some more live sphagnum, but I wanted to ask where I can obtain it sustainably, i.e. not...
Hey Everyone:
I'll be headed to St. Croix in March and wondered if anyone knew of any carnivorous plants native to the island. I tried a quick Google search, but didn't see anything mentioned. I'd assume a Utric and/or Ping would be on the menu, if any are there. If anyone knows anything...
I'll be in Florida from April 20th to April 25th. I'd love to check out some bogs while I'm down there and was wondering if anyone in the area would be available to show me around these places.
This was my first attempt in bringing two plants that naturally grow together in the wild, together in my grow space. I am liking the look and might try a larger setup in the future! I was intrigued with the thought and I obtained the drosera with this type of setup in mind
What do you think?
Hi guys,
Lets address it point by point:
1) I have been off the grid for a long while. Haven't been around any forums for over 6-8 months. Same old story...plants going downhill and loosing interest. But recently, I got a call from my local hamilton RBG to give a 1h+ talk on carnivorous plants...
I have a P. "Pirouette" that started blooming this summer and hasn't stopped. Recently, it split into three (I can count three distinct crowns) and there are more little offsets underneath the plant. It is blooming... enthusiastically. There are five flower stalks and at least one more on the...
So recently my significant other got into raising Poison Dart Frogs as pets. In that hobby, it is extremely taboo to keep frogs of different "morphs" together. Morphs are from different regions, and when they breed, the resulting progeny is "unpure." They worry about these getting back into the...
