I've had this ventricosa for almost a year now, and it's been doing great. Two lower leaves are yellowing, and I first thought it was just age. A few days ago, however, I noticed that the oldest leaf has a very dark tip to it, as if someone covered it with charcoal dust. All the other leaves...
Hello,
I'm sure this is a common question/problem, but my N. Ventricosa isn't growing pitchers and I thought it'd be best to post pictures. I'm growing it under four T5HO fluorescent lights, on for about 12-14 hours per day. Water it with distilled water every few days and I don't let it sit in...
This morning, I noticed that my N. ventricosa has turned black/dark brown at the base of the stem. The growth point is still going strong and forming new pitchers, however. Is this the dreaded CPD people speak of? Should I do an emergency cutting?
Here's a picture of the plant-
Hi everyone!
My name is Zach, in case you couldn't tell from my cryptic username, and I am rather new to this whole carnivorous plant thing. What started as a fascination for the unusual has, in five short months, become a full-fledged addiction.
As of right now, my grow list is as follows...
This is where I'll post about my indoor collection. I decided to be so public with it because I am very serious about making it better (all within means of course!). I recently lost a great many of my older plants, though a few decade + ones survived my year off at university. As I plan on...

Since early Spring this has become the fastest growing plant I have had to date. Not sure why it took a year to recover from frozen above ground to the one in the pictures but I'm happy to see it. Not the best hamata hybrid but very nice and I don't see a lot of them around for sale.

Nepenthes chaniana is one of my favorite species. After two years of trial and error, my Malesiana clone is finally looking presentable.
Last pitcher -- unfortunately, they discolor at the base after feeding
Finally a good-sized rosette
N. chaniana x veitchii -- got this one a while back...
My (ventricosa x sibuyanensis) x merrilliana is currently in bloom. The first flowers should be opening any day now. Please let me know if you have any eligible bachelors in bloom. This plant makes some enormous, tubby pitchers so expect any hybrids to be large and in charge! Pics below.
I haven't posted here lately. My plants haven't done anything remarkable recently, but I thought this was pretty cool.
The Nepenthes Spathulata x Ventricosa seeds I received from this auction germinated (I think)!:
This is my first germination ever, so I'm super excited. I have a few...
Hello all!
Okay, so for a while I've been making posts about how I am planning on doing another few giveaways, and I have decided that instead of doing all of them in separate threads in different weeks, I'm going to do one major giveaway right here.
For all who know me well (and those who can...
Peter and some of the crew were busy so I didn't have time to speak, but thats what being the biggest nursery in the US will do to ya. Damon was only a stone's throw away and was attentive and we had good conversation.
After about 10 years of growing CP's it only takes 5 minutes to learn...
It's been a while since I posted images. Sorry that the quality is a bit spotty...
This young N. veitchii (m) looks promising:
A couple of squat ones - N. ventricosa x (ventricosa x lowii)
and N. spectabilis x mira
Just found this and I apoligize for the background -- it was really...
I need to thin the ranks a bit more -- so I am going to give away two more Nepenthes seedlings from my personal breeding efforts: N. ventricosa X (thorellii X aristolochiodes). These will be easy plants to grow and likely adaptable to all but the most inappropriate conditions. I will select two...

So, thanks to my limited space for growing things, but my love of nepenthes anyways, I feel sometimes the smaller varieties get ignored in favor of the giant ones, but many of them have pretty traps too. So I have made it my mission that every year I am going to purchase 1 tiny nepenthes species...

So I have a couple of nepenthes, but is feel that I can't reasonably provide the temperature drops they want, being that it will start to get too warm at night for nature to provide it for them anymore (highlander hybrid and ventricosa). So I was hoping to perhaps get a very small, portable...
