Here's the female Ghost Mantis:
Detail: She was naughty, she ate her mate! Despite eating like a maniac she was able to stuff a mantid her own size on top of a dozen flies and a giant cricket. She was in with the male for almost a week and one day she was sitting with her back to the male...
Okey, here's what's going on:
I have 4 cacti, which I cant get pics of, (its a long story) I cant really identify, and I want to use their pot for a bunch of CPs.
Cacti 1 is, I believe an Echinocereus.
Cacti 2 is a type of (very spikey) ping pong padle cactus. I know there is a better name, but...
So, I've never had this problem before.
I grow outside. 50/50 peat and perlite. I've had the same bag of Canadian peat for probably 3 years. It's been kept in a shed and sealed up.
Anyway, this year is my first year with seeds.
First immediate question- what to Sarracenia look like when they're...
About a year ago, I posted some pictures of my highland shelf/alarm clock. I was snapping a few pictures today and thought I'd make an update.
Not a Nep, but one of my favorite plants from this shelf. It took me three or four years to get the hang of this genus, but it looks like it's finally...
About three months ago, an article I read about a recently discovered species of pitcher plant (Nepenthes attenboroughii) reawoke old memories of the days I spent as a kid in the early '90s, killing one venus fly trap after another (as many of us did, I'm sure). And I got curious...
I picked up...

Ive had this unidentified east coast species growing outside for several years (full afternoon sun) . To be honest, I wasn't real impressed with it. It grew very "stringy" and the color was overly dark at the top and a funky dirty green everywhere else.
I gave up on it and thought it had...

I found a scattering of a strange, red carnivorous plant that puts me in mind of the Rafflesia sp. Flies are attracted to it, but I didn't notice any rotten smell. I have not been able to find a picture of anything else like it. They range from 3cm - 5cm across, and are grow almost flat on the...

Hi,
I bought a few unidentified carnivorous objects (UCOs) over the winter, and now they have enough growth to make a reasonable attempt at identification. Here is the first one:
To my untrained eye, it appears to be an S.rubra ssp. rubra. It has red flowers and is pushing out a lot of...
