Computer access is usually a hit a miss thing for me. My 20 year old son has a desktop in his room. He is nocturnal and is on that computer for most of his waking life, as late as like 4 am. I work 2nd shift hours but am usually up for good around 7:45 am. So I go...
LACPS meet pics! (BANDWIDTH WARNING!!!)
Well, I decided to go up for a LACPS meet (and unfortunately the traffic made the journey back 2X as long as it was supposed to be  so I just got home) but I did bring back a whole slew of pics! Mostly from the tour around the botanical garden cuz...
I know there are a lot of you that don't know me from "way back when" I was just a member... But I shared everything here to my friends, from my kids' births, to the hardship and loss of one. It's the whole reason I bought this forum instead of letting it be taken over by advertisers... So...
Hey all,
I was talking to a friend of mine about an upcoming move to upstate NY. She said that because of the acid rain/pollution, etc. that I shouldn't collect rainwater to water my plants. Any members in that area that do this? Anyone have a thought as to whether this could be dangerous?
So a while ago, I was on the chatbox with some people and, if I remember correctly, they said that it would be easier, and less expensive to make a mini greenhouse-type thing out of supplies, than to buy one. (the people who were talking to me probably remember the conversation much better)
How...
So lately I've been on TF chat talking about this big Miranda I had that I just needed to get rid of. I threw it outside just to get rid of it and I didn't really have any concern if it'd live or not. It's been there for a week, I went on a trip to LA for the weekend and left it out there with...

Five brand, spanking new, fresh-fallen Hass avocados, grown right here in San Jose, California.
They are still hard when they fall, they fall from about 50 feet up, and come crashing down on anything in their way. I will post a picture of a few great fails later. I'm talking broken buckets...

...On the windowsill of his new york apartment? I remember someone telling me about a book about a guy who fed himself from spring to fall solely off stuff he was able to grow in his new york apartment, using supplemental light also. I've been unable to find information on it or someone who has...
But I couldn't find what i was looking for so I thought you guys could help! :D So here's the quick scoop!: I've been talking to a girl for a couple months through email back and forth and she's helped me get through more than a few rough patches. We decided to start dating when I come back and...
Well, maybe not only help from Cindy, but she will know what I'm talking about the most. A few months ago I started a thread discussing the best way to grow N. Northiana. Cindy had mentioned the burnt earth she can get on the other side of the world, and people further suggested Schultz...
Well, I too have succumbed to the lure of java for my Nepenthes -- this after talking to a number of people whom I respect, both on this forum, and some others who have also sworn by it. Like those before me, I have simply poured cool coffee (made with RO water) through the media, as I would a...

Ok, so I'm wondering whether it is possible to build just a small outdoor greenhouse type environment. Currently, but my house at home and my house here at school (Senior in college) are lacking in indoor growing room. However, I have a very large backyard here at school as well as a girlfriend...
Hello all,
Well yesterday I acquire a fresh leaf cutting from Cephalotus Hummer's Giant which came potted.
After talking to him he said that the leaf cutting was done yesterday. However I forgot to ask an important question to him and now I don't know what to do. So my question is.
Do I...
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a source for opaque plastic sheet 1/8" - 1/4" thick that won't mind being in close proximity to heat as I don't want it bowing over time.
What I'm looking for is something to make an opaque light blocker as pet stores use to hide the works of their displays. I...
