I recently got a N. sanguinea from Clint, which is growing great; each new pitcher has been bigger than the previous. They are all producing nectar, and this is where it gets kinda weird. On all of the pitchers, there is a brown-ish colored stuff that has formed on nectar that collected on the...
Hi guys. I have to let my babies go in place of highlanders. I'll set up the tank, take temp measurements and then decide on the offers. I hate to let them go, especially the bical x camp, but it's a new learning experience and i'm sure I'll learn to love highlanders/intermediates.

I’ve been unable to find a suitable answer on the Net so I thought I’d ask my multi-part question here…
1. Which Drosera are capable of holding their sticky nectar out of a terrarium?
2. If one lives in a medium-to-low humidity area of the US (Zone 5 in fact), which Drosera are good at...
Yup, what defines the Darlingtonia is it's fangs or 'moustache' *depending which walk of life you come from*.
But, what exactly are they for? To block out light so the prey can't easily get out? Or what?
What are these fangs for? Are they the nectar source?
I could never figure this one out...
I could post this in that huge shelf post in the Greenhouse etc. forum, but I figure I'm done posting there. Just an update on the N. fusca 'Sarawak' pitcher that recently opened, and is making a crud-load of nectar.
Plus, the N. x ventrata are making pitchers, too...
Relax.. I just wanted to post these pictures to make sure that my neps are healthy since I haven't got much experience with neps so I can't recognize bad signs when I see them.
Patient 1: Nepenthes ventricosa 'red pitchers'
Lots of big pitchers, some are drooling actually, seems to be happy...
Hi guys,
This is the most singular matter. My VFT NEW traps don't seem to finish forming...doesn't even blacken....it finished forming cilia and comes final size...but trap doesn't open!!
There is no damage I can see on the leaves. All other leaves are fine.......But interestingly, leaf...
I was in the mood just now to write a poem about Sarracenia, I 'spose more specifically S. purpurea, but whatever, here it is:
How you wait so silently, knowingly
Knowing what unfortunates will fall upon you,
Being so helpless,
Drinking your nectar, your wine,
So becoming dreamy, and falling in...
My current favourite CP, Byblis aquatica. It seems to be a dwarf species. The whole plant is only a few cm high, and the leaves are distinctly reddish
Same again
S leucophylla- doing well in my new greenhouse
S x popei- ditto
P lustianica
B lamellata

All of my VFT's were closing really fast when I bought them, but since they have been out in my flower bed in about 6 hours of sun a day, they just plain don't want to close. I have seen ants devouring the nectar, and do everything except pull the traps over themselves, but my traps either don't...
Hi,
If anybody wants to know more about it...
A few years ago I started being worried about my N. insignis (Biak, clone from Wistuba) as in a Botanic Garden I found the same plant labeled as a hybrid. On the same day Wistuba ensured me that he had collected the seeds of his plants personally...
While looking at my new N. ventricosa, I noticed the peristome on one of it's pitchers was shiney, and when I touched it, sticky. I took a quick look around to see if the coast was clear, and then I stuck out my tongue and... licked it. Tasted amazing. If you guys don't hear from me for a few...
Hi all,
This is going to sound very weird but which nectar of the neps nectar can u drink that is sweet? Wen I was cleaning my terrarium I got some of the fluid on the bottom of the pitcher and was about to try it wen I remembered that many bugs dies in there and thought how sweet could it be if...

<span style='color:teal'>Hello guys!
Yesterday i was working with my Nep's. I was moving some of them to a new site and cleaning the pots of others. While i was working with my bicalcarata a pitcher fell down for the pot, and guess what, the pitcher touched my lips.
This pitcher was...

The nectar is dripping down, making it look like a cobra poised to strike, venom dripping down its fangs...
On Edit: Whoops, can a mod please move to the Nepenthes forum?
