Here is a photo of my P. chilensis. You can see some seedlings, that are likely from a seed pod which I forgot to harvest. One of the amazing traits of this plant is that it is completely autogamous!
The flowers of P. chilensis are very short, the stalk can be sessile like mine, or a few cm...
Hey CP'ers, I was given a bottle of "Feed Me! Mist" orchid food spray by an orchid growing friend. She knows I don't grow orchids but knows I've used orchid ferts in the past so she prompted me to give it a try. Has anyone else tried this on their Neps? I looked it up and I'm getting the...
CP Water Germination Experiment
Phase 1 tropical & subtropical species, mostly Drosera
No stratification
When I decided to restart my CP collection I had some seeds stored in my refrigerator for up to 17 years. Some were from the ICPS seedbank and some were from my old collection in the mid to...
Does anyone have experience cultivating Drosera flexicaulis? I have it growing indoors in a terrarium under lights, but I'm not sure that that is the right thing to do since there isn't that much light and it looks rather etiolated. If I grew it outside I would be able to give it full sun but...
Hey, everyone. I have questions about the Maxsea fertilizer. I had heard about it on this site. I know I hadn't see it at my local stores, so I went to my trusty amazon.com account and found a 1.5lb container of the 16-16-16 for $19.98 and free shipping. I don't know if that's a deal, but it...
As would have it, checking on my plants in the refig, (3) small divisions pulled away  from the mother plant so here they are. I grew the mature S.psittacina from seed out of a Science Discovery kit a number of years ago. I'm showing a pic of the mother plant for identification...
My new seedgrown nepenthes robcantleyi arrived on Wednesday. I just wanted to share my pics and update this thread as it grows.
Plant was fertilized on 3/26/16 with:
-7 osmocote in the soil
-1 osmocote in the pitcher
-Coffee in the soil
-Maxsea sprayed all over the plant, put in pitcher, and...
I've been doing a lot of reading about the benefits of Maxsea, and It sounds like people swear by the stuff - with results ranging from bringing back plants from the dead to turning plants into monsters.
But here in the great white north, it's a bit tricky to get hold of the stuff. I'm...
I wanted to wait before I said anything concrete, but as I ended up trading away most of my test subjects, it looks like things are on hold for awhile until the next batch of seedlings are large enough, and anyone who knows me, knows that I can be impatient with certain things...
This began...
I just got myself a drosera graomogolensis. I was wondering if it is advisable to feed this species. I used to have 3 plantlets that were growing super well on a WINDOWSILL out of all places ( dew and everything) I decided to try to feed to speed up growth, food rotted and so did the whole...
Hi all,
Iv been opening old threads, and nearly all suggests that after applying maxsea then need to flush, but none of them exactly telling when to flush.

I beleive I may have gotten overzealous when I got my Maxsea for Christmas and over-did it on my Heliamphora heterodoxa x minor. The pitcher I sprayed the most seems to be browning a lot (I also attempted to give it some ground up betta pellets in RO water, I know rookie mistake to give it so...
I put this together a while back more as an experiment with propagating mosses than anything planned. I wasn't even sure if the method would work all that well. Basically, I just threw some clumps of about three different mosses into a food-processor with about an ounce of water and a dash of...
I've been doing some reading the last few days, trying to learn a bit more about mosses in general; how they grow and propagate, how much their environment affects them, etc.
Turns out that most "typical" mosses do not, in fact, leech nutrients or food from the soil...at least, not...
Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of or used a fertilizer called seagrow 16-16-16. I first saw it at this site- http://www.nepenthesaroundthehouse.com/fertilization.htm and have looked around for it a little bit. It seems to be a little cheaper then Maxsea 16-16-16 and would like...
Came home from work and I see this the most horrible things ever!! :( idk if this is normal but I've never seen them like this before.. The only thing I did different was try a diluted maxsea fertilizer.. These are the only two looking bad. The rest of my plants are very happy!! Could it be the...
I have some seeds sown about a month ago that have now germinated. Some of them appear to be making carnivorous leaves, but they're clearly too small still for solid food. I have some MaxSea on the way, but when is a good time to apply it and at what strength? I've read 1/4 tsp per gallon but...
Ran out of maxsea so ordered some online.... (yes, ebay)
When it arrived I opened it and went omg, this looks nothing like the Maxsea I had.
First thought was I got a bogus ebay product... now what?
Called Maxsea, described my concern...
paraphrasing...
"You cannot go by appearance with our...
These have got to be the healthiest size small plants I have ever ordered from any nursery hands down.
I FINALLY got one of the N Robcantleyi clones and it's sweeeet!
Seriously look how healthy some of this stuff is. Please forgive the pic of them outside, a couple plants got a little cold...
