Since i grow all my neps indoors, I usually squirt a bit of diluted fertilizer inside the pitchers when I feed with maxsea or growmore orchid fertilizer. I was wondering if anyone has tried dropping a pellet of Osmocote in the pitchers and what were the results? Positive/negative in plant...
I don't know who here has ever tried it but over a month ago I gave several different Nepenthes plants a single watering of straight black coffee I brewed in my regular coffee maker. The coffee "treatment" made a huge difference on every species I tried it on (rafflesiana, mirabilis var...
D. graminfolia - Botumirin, Brazil. These seedlings are doing great and getting big... A little over a year old now. I give em a mist of Maxsea every couple of weeks. Pretty sure they are true graminifolia, their leaves unfurl in perfect spirals. Not oblong spirals of the D. spiralis.
Adult...
Why do some wistuba Heli never seem to go beyond juvenile stage?
I have been growing Heli from Wistuba since 1997 but have found some clones (for me at least) never progress well. My hispida never did and got smaller. Yet another clone from elsewhere moved to adult growth quickly. My 10 year...
Hey everybody, I've been using a Miracle-Gro brand orchid fertilizer on my plants for a few months and the results seem a bit dubious. I diluted the fert to approx 1/4 strength and have been using it every 2 weeks as a foliar feed and a little bit through the soil. I'm wondering if anyone has...
Hello all,
Just figured I would show you how my plant has been doing lately.
Since I last posted on 5-22-13, I re-potted my plant from that small stump pot into a much bigger plastic pot. Can't remember exactly what day I re-potted, but it was 5-22 or a couple days after?
I have been giving it...
Hey guys. I don't know if this will be of benefit to anyone reading or not but just in case it is, I thought I would share a few photos of a plant that I used some MaxSea 16-16-16 on about 3 weeks ago. I separated one of my Nepenthes mirabilis var. echinostoma plantlets from the others (all...
I got some MaxSea fertilizer that I use foliarly on my Nepenthes. It has a ratio on the thing of like 1tbsp per gallon, but I do 3/4tsp per gallon like directed by the nursery owner that uses it on all of their CPs. I want to fertilize my sundews and my sarracenia. I have 15+ of each aliciae and...
Without thinking, I used MaxSea on my vegetables... There are no vegetables formed yet, but it was used on the plant part... I sprayed as foliar and I fertilized the roots. Are they safe to eat? ???
While snapping some pics of the baby Wacky Traps and its double headed leaf, i noticed something odd.. The traps(all of them) are covered in weird little goldish colored dots.. I dont think they're a parasite or eggs, only thing I can think of is its crystalized ferts from when I misted them...
I've read two things... Seeds are extremely sensitive and should not be fertilized, and fertilizing seeds can help them... What's the deal with this? I have MaxSea fertilizer and I mix 3/4tsp with a gallon of water (a bit less than that proportion because I had to calculate that into my 22oz...
Recently my cephs have been getting some unusual white fuzz on their leaves. I've been spraying with Maxsea 16-16-16 but I've not been rinsing afterwards. I think it has to do with the Maxsea because otherwise my growing conditions seem to really encourage mold! Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi all, I see threads about circulating bogs and I see threads about Maxsea 16-16-16 fertilizer, but no threads about using Maxsea in a circulating bog. I visited Mr. D'Amato a few weeks back and he recommended Maxsea 16-16-16. His own mixing directions call for dissolving 3/4 tsp into a gallon...
After reading Est's how-to and trading a few PMs I thought a circulating bog was quite feasible for me. Pictured is actually a reworked version of my first go. I learned quite a few things from trial and error:
Problem 1: A completely open circulating system with just a pond pump and irrigation...
Hello all,
In taking pictures of my lovely N. spectabilis x aristolochioides for a thread I created last night, I noticed some red spots on its leaves. Here's a pic that shows them better:
I've read that red spots can be a sign of three things:
1) too much light
2) viral infection
3) crappy...
Hey folks,
This is my first attempt at growing orchids. Well, if you must know, it's actually my second - my first attempt happened at college and came to a sudden halt when I thought it would be a great idea to mix up a strong batch of Miracle Gro and flood the pot with it.
But I digress. I...
Hey folks! Here are some of my Neps, all in one place, for your viewing pleasure. These are nowhere near what some other folks on TF have in their collections, but I'm confident these puppies will get there some day :-O
N. x Deroose alata (thanks doku!) - This is a rooted cutting I got in a...
Hey everyone - I'm having issues raising pygmy Drosera gemmae to adulthood. I try sprouting them uncovered in my grow rack and they dry out and shrivel up within two or three months--it seems that ambient relative humidity in my apartment is just too low this time of year. I try covering them in...
I was just curious if anyone has ever tried misting the leaves of mexi pings with Maxsea....I'm eager to try it, but I thought I shoud ask for some input first. Thanks.
I was just curious if anyone has used maxsea on Heliamphora and if so, were the results positive, or negative? I have been contemplating trying some on mine, but thought I shoud get some opinions first.
Thanks.
