I spotted these Darlingtonia sprouts peeking up amongst a clump of VFT in the bog. It seems one of the bog cobras is sending out some stolons and decided this looked like a good place to sprout, haha.

Does this little Cobra look in poor health? I have had him outside in the pond he doesn't look like he is growing and the heads on some look kind of see thru or thin idk.
Most plants inside growing w/vigor. Could just be in my head. Hard to find pic's to compare it to.

For some time now I have been struggling for room in my greenhouses so I took stock of the space I could make available and decided to purchase a small 6ft x 4ft ( 1.8m x 1.2m) polycarbonate greenhouse. This is intended to house my Darlingtonia and the odd bryophyte and /or orchid.
One tree had...
Hey Everyone!
I wrote a book on Darlingtonia which is now available in many stores, including Amazon. In celebration, I'm giving away a signed copy. To keep things fair, I'm doing this via a Facebook App on my Blog's Facebook Page. If you're interested in winning, follow the link -...

One of my seedling D. californica has been producing mature pitchers for a while, the only one out of around 50 or so that has yet to produce the snake pitchers, and has begun showing some color.
Hopefully soon the rest will follow suit, and considering they're growing in relatively low...

We all have see this recommended for sarr seedlings. I have a few darlingtonia seeds in the fridge and I was wondering how they would respond to this method of growing? My sarr seedlings will be going outside soon so I will have the room to grow them under light 24/7. Do you think they will...
I was potting some Darlingtonia tonight and was playing with the level of the rhizomes in relation to the media surface. How deeply do most position their plants, and to what depth does the plant naturally gravitate?
Alright, group, I have a question. I am going to experiment with planting a Darlingtonia or two in a polystyrene cooler. It is a quality, 2-inch-thick-walled box used to ship temperature sensitive medicine. Just guessing, it has a potting space of 8" by 10" by 6". My logic says this will keep...
I am thinking about using cedar or cypress mulch as an ingredient in my Darlingtonia mix. Thoughts?
Rob uses it... http://thepitcherplantproject.com/blog/2013/12/11/darlingtonia-transplant-mixing-it-up/

Hi guys! I recently got ahold of some lab-grade GA3 powder. It says it's 90%. I'd like to know how best to mix it up, and what to dissolve it in (water? alcohol?). I've read the "best" concentrations to shoot for are 500-1000ppm. Is this true?
I'm going to try and use it on very old D. omissa...
I don't grow in a greenhouse per say. Since 90% of my plants are temperate and I live in zone 6b/7, I just use my greenhouse for dormancy; you know, mostly just keeping the windchill off my little darlings. The last couple seasons this has been achieved with a little pop-up greenhouse that has...
You can barely see it beyond the D. binata 'Marston Dragon' that just had to be in the picture, but my Darlingtonia is getting a couple new pitchers. I'm pretty excited because this is my first attempt at growing Darlingtonia where I've actually gotten new growth, and I've only had the plant for...
I've seen pictures of Darlingtonias during winter time before and it doesn't look this dry. I'm in Zone 8 and I know that they're from this region.
It got down to about 15°F and the pot of frozen solid for about 4 - 5 days before I decided to bring it in (into an unheated room), it was also a...
