Something that I had long suspected -- that supposedly identical TC plants appear and behave differently, even though grown in the same place and under identical conditions -- had really been considered "old news" by the micro-propagating (TC) community and actually had been for several years --...

Here is something that is common yet many have never seen, Sphagnum sporophytes.
I originally imported this species live from New Zealand many moons ago. This culture is a descendant of the original cultures that were featured in my "Growing Sphagnum Moss" web page.
Sorry for the crappy pics...
Note: I am always open to trades... but I never have much to offer. If you don't want cuttings of plants or seedlings, my trades are mostly me paying the shipping and bowing down to you  If we do trade, though, I DO NOT CARE ABOUT PRIORITY FLAT RATE. I think it's just a waste of money, so...
I'm currently in Tofino, BC, on day 9 of an 11-day excursion to British Columbia. Managed to see a lot more CP's than I thought I would. Day 1 of the trip was in Seattle and I visited a certain place that grows and sells carnivorous plants. Saw a lot of cool plants there and bought a few. I...

I know there is a sundew place for me to post this, but the General section gets viewed more often and I really need help with this.
I bought a tray of sundews from a popular wholesale/tissue culture place and I don't think they are true to type. I think what I got was a hybrid. They guarantee...
It's an odd coincidence that I'm posting twice today about two different kinds of banding today.
This one is about B52, and has me kind of confused:
I received a B52 from tissue culture from David Conner, which came in a "clump" of two plants sharing a rhizome and were in the process of...

Cupped Trap
Bristletooth

Finally got feeling good enough to do some chores around the house. Redo the shower walls, fix the broken drawer in the kitchen, and set up my Ping/Dew tank in the livingroom. Nothing fancy.. more of a test run really. A bottom layer of the Canadian LFS I've been wanting to get rid of, a...
Hi,
I'm sure that many of you are aware of my VFT hydroponics experiment that had been running since 2009. That experiment uses an active hydroponics called Deep Water Culture (DWC). Whilst it has been successful, the complexity of the setup may put some people off of trying it, so this year I...
I need to ask for some advice. There is a large, popular carnivorous plant nursery based in Australia that sells carnivorous plants (rooted, and having been grown in media for a while ) as well as tissue culture carnivorous plants (shipped directly in the tissue culture media). I wanted to...
I put a rooted cutting of N. "deroose alata" in a deep water culture hydroponic setup. Its been about 4.5 months and is really starting to take off. The roots are coming out of the bottom of the net pot. It quit making pitchers when humidity dropped for the winter.
The setup consists of...
Hello all. Just thought you all would enjoy some pics of My 2 Nepenthes Tenuis plants. One is a definite Female and the other is Un known I'm sure the other one is a male Though as its from Tissue Culture. Seems that most everything from TC comes out a Boy.
I'll be keeping everyone here...
There was some good lighting in Ashland today, so I snapped a few photos of the new clone that I raised from seed in vitro. It is very similar in appearance to 'Bohemian Garnet', but I believe that it gets a bit larger, though I've only had it out of tissue culture for a couple of months so...
That dry ice topic and Aviator's post that didn't develop got me thinking... and googling:

I get a laugh out of this every time I see it on my grow rack, so I thought I'd share. It's a seedling that I started in vitro at the end of September. The culture that it was in got contaminated so I had to deflask it about a month ago. Now it's sending up a flower stalk!
