Hi all
I found this site via a Google search for culture info on Mexican Pings. But as it turns out, my one and only Mexican Ping was purchased from FlyTrapShop.com this summer-so I should have known about this forum before now. I have a P. moctezumae.
I also have a few pots of VFT, about 5...
In years past, I have typically planted Cephalotus seed in regular composts (http://www.terraforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121937&highlight=cephalotus+seed) and/or only briefly germinated them aseptically (in TC media). This time around, I have the opportunity of doing a bit of...
Hey all,
After over a year of delay, I finally managed to get some sterile cultures going last March and in early May. It sure is convenient to have access to a lab with flow hoods and ethanol/supplies! The jars and gel/nutrients are all purchased by me though.
I was in san diego all summer so...
Anybody have any type of temperate Aquatic utric (anything that will do good in S.Cali full sun)
that they can trade off?
As well as any Daphnia (water fleas) just enough to get a culture going.
PM me for what I have to offer...
Some of you are probably aware of my fondness for seeds -- and, especially, for seed-grown plants; and here is a selection of Heliamphora, sown 15 June and an example of some grown in vitro from 2009. I have another batch (in the fridge, next to my Guinness) ready for culturing this coming...
Here is one of my Justina Davis plants, which has just produced a set of three successive mutant leaves, reminiscent of the "Pom Pom" variety seen from time to time -- apparently associated with tissue culture anomalies. This is the second year that it has done this.
Dionaea muscipula cv...
There was a member whom I thought I had became good freinds with back when i was really active. He was getting big into tissue culture. Lived in Chicago and was a land lord. He had a grow room in the basement of his complex. He sent me a really cool letter and sealed it with an old school red...
Here is a pot -- OK, a 17 oz. beer-cup -- of two happy-go-lucky Dionaea muscipula cv. "B52s," both of flowering-size, though still quite early in the season (we had a long wet winter in California). They were rhizomal divisions of original plants from Henning Von Schmeling and not tissue culture...
Hi, all:-)
I thought it would be nice to share the outcome of my experiments with supplemented MS medium on some drosera species in vitro. It is well known that the presence of aminoacids in tissue culture media can promote the growth of the plants in a very significant manner (e.g. glycine...
Has anyone used beneficial nematodes to feed Utricularia? It is what they eat in nature and I am considering using them. I am going to buy some to get rid of grubs, termites and other naughty insects and am thinking about starting a culture with a few. Any thoughts or experience?
Copper
Up for grabs here are Darlingtonia from my first batch of seed planted winter '05 (I think.) Many of the original-growth rosettes are from pots I planted in live sphagnum which were subsequently smothered for a few years and therefore may still be somewhat dwarfed, but all the plants I intend to...

I can also be contacted on AIM/OoVoO/Skype at doomsdaykillz@aol.com

I am looking for the following Dionaea cultivars. If you have any for trade let me know.
I am also looking for tissue samples from them, mainly fresh flower stalks about 3-5 inches in length and leaves.
If you want to send me some tissue, I will try to tissue culture it and if it works I could...
I started trying to tissue culture mid January. Besides tomato seed these are the only things i've been successful with so far. Dionaea Muscipula leaf and seed. The leaf explant was put in vitro on February 13th. More than a month later and there are lil shoots everywhere.
Nepenthes are great. But growing them in enclosed spaces cramps their style and beauty. Nepenthes tend to look their best in large hanging baskets. or in large pots with a trellis or something to climb.
It's easier said than done, there would definitely be issues to work out. One challenge...

OK so these were all iphone pics through the plastic lids so bare with the quality please :)
I know these aren't huge, but you can open them on a picture editing program to enlarge them if you want. They can get pretty big and still be understandable.
