I watched “Grizzly Man” for the second time last night. It is a fascinating documentary and the photography is supberb. I was just wondering if any of you have an opinion about Timothy Treadwell and his possibly misguided and fatal interaction with the bears. Did he have a death wish? There...
Hi guys,
A number of my neps, like my bical, fusca and clip are putting out narrow leaves. I cannot think that this is a good thing, so I want to ask - Is this a problem and what are its causes?
I cannot think of any drastic changes in environment, but there may have been a possible increase...
We have a small pond equiped with a little waterfall basin in our front yard. I think it's about 100 gallons or so. I was curious as to whether CPs, such as Darlingtonia, could be kept in the waterfall area? It's maybe 60 gallons per hour, and flows at a good little clip. Being a deep, narrow...
Here are some screenshots from this latest clip:
The 'star' of the show:
The trap is set:
And it closes - in less than one second. I had the camera at 30 FPS and there were altogether about 10 images showing the closure of the trap. So it took 1/3 second to close?
Note the movement of the...
Hey all. My recently acquired ephippiata is suffering. Although humidity is now stabilized, I had some problems with my new enclosure. As a result, many leaves have curled up and turned papery (they are still green).
Should I clip them off? They don't seem to be getting any better and I don't...
Wow, a speech at school I am actually looking forward to.

Hi! I recently bought my first Nepenthes Miranda plant at a local flea market. what a cool plant it is! It appears to be doing well, new pitchers opening up and new tendrils growing. Little green trees frogs have taken to using the pitchers as hammocks. I like this planet so much (I call it my...
A clip from a programme that was on here the other day. I missed the full feature, but it apparently had a few members from the CPUK forum on it. It's a pity they cut that off the clip!

I know that a lot of folks clip the flower stalks on VFTs to enable the plant to focus its energy on trap growth and in most cases to avoid a dead plant. Is this neccessary for Sarracenias?
I have

N. 'Judith Finn'
N. 'Miranda'
N. 'Holland Hybrid'
well I think thats it.
Forgot: clip 1 [clipeata x(clipeata x eymae)]

So I just took a look and my new D. capensis is without dew, and one leaf is molding! I've had it in with my other D. capensis and my N. alata, which have high humidity (about 70-75%) and a decent temp (low 70s) but substandard light. I've been watering it with filtered tap water, which I...
