Are there any Utrics that can grow in an aquarium?

Hello, I just started an aquarium several months ago and I was starting to plant it with live plants. I was wondering if anyone is aware of or has had any experience growing utrics or aldrovanda in a standard planted fish aquarium. I know that the CP's tend to grow in nitrogen starved...

    Floating aquatics for tropical terrarium?

Hey folks I'm developing a plan for a semi aquatic tank and I'm curious if there is a floating Utric species (preferably larger traps) or form of Aldrovanda that can live in a tropical vivarium year round and not need cool temps to form turions & go dormant?

Aldrovanda traps - fed with daphnia

I was trying out this for fun and found it very tiring (oh my eyes!). Freeze dried daphnia (~1-2mm each)and pointed tweezers. For the effect, these pics were also made into a short video clip.

    Blatta lateralis colony for trade

CLOSED-- Thanks Frilleon! I accidentally bought 3,000 Blatta lateralis; AKA red runners, Turks, Turkistans, little-fast-sneezy things; and both Teddy, my bearded dragon, and I are tired of them. They can't climb, but can sure run, and the males can kinda hover and flutter-glide. They are good...

Could/should the forum be split into more sub-sections?

I have a keen interest in Cephalotus and Heliamphora but have no interest in Sarracenia and Darlingtonia. On other CP forums I subscribe to the Cephalotus and Heliamphora forums, so that I get notification of new threads but by grouping Cephalotus, Heliamphora, Sarracenia and Darlingtonia...

    Want aldrovanda

I'd like to get about three strands of Aldrovanda... Especially the red variety. Please PM me if you can help me out :) I'd like to grow it in a very high light, co2 injected aquarium. I remember I gave a lot away a few summers ago. Maybe someone will remember and return the good karma.

Photbucket Is Getting On My Nerves!

I'm not sure, not it seems that whenever I delete a photo in favor of a better picture, the next thing I know there is a comment about a sundew that is now a VFT or an Aldrovanda or whatever. Every single picture has a unique number that is assigned by Photobucket. It may be similar to others...

Brand new copy, published in 2006, so yes, its obviously a reprint and not a priceless old book. The entire book is focused on sundews, and one chapter on VFTs, and one on aldrovanda. It talks about experiments that were done with them , and how they eat, etc. Winner pays $5.00 shipping. This...

    Aldrovanda Care Tips

A while back, before I had gotten my Aldrovanda, Blokeman decided to PM me some very helpful tips (Thanks again, Steven!). Bloke compiled up the info from his own experiences, local CPers and Barry Rice's very informative Growing Carnivorous Plants. Here's his PM: "Hey Clue, I've tried growing...
