Photbucket Is Getting On My Nerves!

I'm not sure, not it seems that whenever I delete a photo in favor of a better picture, the next thing I know there is a comment about a sundew that is now a VFT or an Aldrovanda or whatever. Every single picture has a unique number that is assigned by Photobucket. It may be similar to others but it is unique. Why is it replacing existing pictures with the wrong photo? I like the service it provides, but it can't keep my pictures straight.

It's about time you switched to flickr. I absolutely hate photobucket, not user friendly and OH THOSE ADS!

Or setup your own web server for photos and forget the commercial services altogether.

Hmm I've never had the problem with Photobucket. It's been great for me even though I've deleted things also. Wierd.

Flikr is good. I've thought about moving to that. It gets a ton of traffic! My friend is an amateur photographer but takes simply exquisite pics, but he never watermarked them. He gets volumes of comments on his pics. I told him to use tineye to do a reverse image look up, to make sure no one is stealing his stuff. Lo' and behold, a professional photographer who owns galleries was selling one of my friend's pics as his own... It's in litigation as we speak.

First was Imageshack..it was fine for a few years..then it began to seriously suck..
photos would be randomly deleted (by imageshack)..I gave up..

then there was photobucket..it too was ok for awhile, until I made a webpage that seems to get heavier traffic than most of my other pages:

http://gold.mylargescale.com/scottychaos/Ariens/

So photobucket would take down my photos for "exceeding bandwidth"..photos would be gone for a month at a time..

then I finally realized..with the free photo hosts "you get what you pay for"..
you pay nothing, you get nothing..

So finally I wised-up and started paying $3.33 a month for smugmug:
(you pay once a year..40 bucks)

http://www.smugmug.com/
http://scotlawrence.smugmug.com/

well worth the tiny cost IMO..
no bandwidth limits, no upload limits..its perfect for me.

if you want to try it, you can use my email address to get $5 off for the first year..
use scotlawrence at gmail dot com

I'm kinda surprised no one has mentioned Picasa. I find it very reliable and easy to connect to either from my phone or any computer. I too tried photobucket and imageshack and grew tired of it, tried Picasa and was very pleased at how user friendly it was. Not perfect but definitely much better than the 2 above.

The thought of transferring a bazillion pictures to another hosting site...

I love picasa. It's my favourite. To me the others are slow and sometimes confusing.

If you have the pictures saved onto a hard drive, Picasa lets you choose which directories, or hard drives to upload. Even down to single pictures only if you choose not to upload an entire album or drive. You can choose to leave the uploaded material only available to yourself or available for browsing by everyone.
Should your pictures not be saved to a hard drive and only on another hosting site, (don't quote me on this), but I believe there is a Picasa option to transfer ALL your pictures over to a Picasa host with just a few clicks.
