So, I recently made some major adjustments to my setup. My space efficiency and light distribution have been maximized, and the ghettoness of the whole thing has been greatly lessened.

It went from this:

To this:

I'm hoping that the shelf part of the setup will be small enough to bring to college next August and keep in a tiny section of dorm. I'm doing some major trading this spring and clearing out many of the plants that aren't my favorites, so that my collection will be sufficiently compact and easily movable.

Anyway...Now its time for the good stuff--pretty pictures :)

Just traded this one out today...I feel a little sad, but I'm glad it will have a good home in Hawaii.

Very cool. I made a similar set up with lights aiming slightly towards the window, and it's very bright when looking up at my window from outside! :p

I find that Nepenthes reinwardtiana fascinating, the "wings" are perfect!

Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments! :spazz:
I will be sure to update with more in the future, and I also have several pieces of Nepenthes artwork to share on here soon.

Thez: Thank you! :-D

Liz: Thank you! Everyone keeps telling me that there won't be room in my dorm and that I shouldn't be worried about plants, but I say you make room for the things that are important, and as such I'll figure this thing out.

Devon: My lights do the same thing. They are very bright, and when viewed from the road, I think people must think I'm growing pot or doing autopsies or something in here.

Thanks!
They are 26W daylight CFLs from Walmart. They work surprisingly well--if I'm not careful I have trouble with leaf-burn on my Neps.

They all look so happy! Props on the new setup and of course I reallly like your spectabilis x talangensis. :D

Best of luck in your transition to college and in keeping some beauties with you as well as with the whole trading process and whatnot. I hope they can find really great homes.

Thanks Dex! :)

I saw your N. spectabilis x talangensis on the pitchers per square inch thread. It looks like yours has really caught up to mine in the race for awesomeness...at least for the time being. ;)

So far the trades and whatnot have gone very well. There are so many generous and trustworthy people in the CP community--they've made the whole process quite pleasant.
