Those floatings are lovely. And I had no idea you kept a bearded dragon.
Thank you! Those are some of my favorite plants. I like how uniform they are, how dense the leaves are, and how they move so much when they eat. I've got one D. sp. "Floating" plant in-vitro, as well as one callus.

Congrats on your successes so far - and on your new magnifiers. I could use something similar for working with Drosera seed.

Thanks, man! Much appreciated, as always! As for the magnifiers, I highly recommend them. Especially for Drosera seed. I plan on using mine to plan viewing/inspecting, and especially for pollinating and making hybrids, as well as tissue culture of course ($17 on Amazon http://a.co/3GPs7X7).

Another Droso seedling. This one had a lot of phenolic bleeding after excising the offshoots from the bottom, which is causing the rust color:

Nice post! I'm not sure which photos I like the best.

Your 'B52' x 'B52' plant is interesting. I like the idea of taking a good, or great, cultivar and tossing up the genes to see what might come out. I have a "Red purple" x self that has turned out to be a really good plant.

I got that 'B52' x ' B52' from a friend, and it's turning out to be really nice. The traps are huge! I definitely want to get some seed from it eventually. I think selfing Dionaea cultivars is a good way to create some awesome ones, because they are rarely bred past the F1 generation, after being crossed. The F2 generation is where things really start to get interesting, with the recessive traits starting to combine, and then stabilization of the traits comes with subsequent inbred generations.

One of my goals is to create and name some nice Dionaea cultivars. Tissue culture definitely helps them grow to flowering size much more quickly than they do in-vivo. It should allow me to do a few generations, to help get certain recessive traits to show.

How/what did you make the TC with? I kind of want to try TC

What do you mean? I'm using MS media with sugar and gelling powder. On the plant culture, there are no hormones, and the callus cultures have BAP. I do my culture work in a laminar flow hood, and sterilize everything in a large pressure cooker.
